What a beautiful day the Lord gave us to begin Lighting the Way to the Smokies! June 6th was the first Saturday for the ministry due to all the rain in May, and there were many people who stopped by our table at the Sugarland’s Visitor Center. The lyrics from the old spiritual, “I’ll Be A Witness For My Lord” was on my mind as one person after another thanked me for being there with our little table full of free materials about the good news of Jesus Christ. Several asked for prayer for lost loved ones, assurance of salvation, and wisdom to find God’s will in their lives. After good conversations and prayer together, they took tracts, sermons, and books for follow-up. The following materials were distributed to meet various needs:Sermons:

One lady was deeply moved by all of the materials which were free for her to send to her two sons who are not saved. She took two Bibles, two sermons, etc. After our praying together, I promised to share her request for prayer for her sons with you.
One lady was not sure of her salvation, although she had been baptized many years ago. We discussed the plan of salvation, and I read to her John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” The friend that was with her said she could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as we prayed together. She prayed for her friend after my prayer, and she prayed for me, also. It is moments like this that proves that “I’ll Be A Witness For My Lord” is more than lyrics from an old spiritual. Witnessing is accompanied by the Holy Spirit as He brings people over to the table, convicts of sin, and ministers assurance of salvation in their hearts.
