I received this email:
"My son is...saved, and very intelligent, and has been very angry at me for putting Saturday aside; he says that we are Christians and explained something about the calendar that we use today not existing back then...Somehow he explained the math, that the seventh day is in fact Sunday, and that as Christians we should be honoring it on Sunday. I am now thinking my son was right. May I have your input/advise on these things?"
My answer:
Here are scriptures to show that we are free to worship on Sundays. Please read Romans 14:7 to your son, and then read Mark 8:31, Luke 23:53-36 and Luke 24:1-7. Basically, Jesus rose on the “first day of the week”, and to celebrate the resurrection, we meet to worship on Sundays. See Acts 20:7. Paul preached to the disciples “on the first day of the week”…
So, in honor of our Savior’s resurrection we worship on Sundays. Romans 14:7 frees us to worship Him every day. He is our new Sabbath rest—see Hebrews 4:3.
