From Heidi and the NYC team:
Once again we were blessed with wonderful weather this past Sunday. It seems the Lord is blessing us the last few weeks to be able to set up outside opposite Penn Station in front of the Post Office on 32nd Street.
We had several people come to the table and were able to engage some of them in conversation. Several people we have met since setting up, including some Christians, passed by and gave us words of encouragement. Many took various materials. One lady even gave us a small donation as she wanted to bless us. Amazingly, all of the Bibles were taken.
Suzi engaged in an in-depth conversation with a man who called himself a "liberal christian" and was seeking support for his lifestyle, which flies in direct contradiction of the Scriptures. Suzi used the Bible as her authority, yet the man insisted that he could continue in his sin and still be a Christian. There was another man, a veteran, who may have been without a home, who was of the sort who believes that it ok for everyone to have their own belief, as it doesn't bother him. We explained that there are not many paths, but only one True Path, One Way, and that Way is Jesus. We offered to pray for him and his housing situation, but he was not open to being prayed for then and there, so we did so once he left.
Another man came to the table with his two teenaged (?) children, and he was so delighted to have encountered us as he figured out that we were partners with Lighting the Way ministry. He explained how he came across your testimony on the Lighting The Way Worldwide website and wanted to converse more with you, as you made such an impression on him and on his own personal walk in search of true faith. He is a Roman Catholic who is seeking the Truth. He was so appreciative and humble. I got his email and he said that he wanted to stay in touch with the ministry, including yourself.
We were out at our location from about 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., and many people wanted to know if we would be back and also have more materials for them. We told them that as long as the weather was accommodating, we would be at the same location but, once the weather changes for the colder, we would hopefully set up somewhere underground at the W. 42nd Street subway passageways.
We then packed up our materials to store them. We gave thanks and praise to the Lord for the many opportunities He gave us and we headed home exhausted but full of joy!!
Next on our agenda is to set up an e-mail account on Yahoo so that any seekers or those with additional questions may contact us, as well as make some ministry cards with our contact information. Attached are some photos of us doing ministry.
Shalom!!!
