LTW to Nursing Homes: Holston Rehabilitation Center (Knoxville, TN)

With Lucinda (Cindy) and Ruth

Today I sang hymns at Holston Rehabilitation Center, an assisted living facility affiliated with St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville, TN. The residents sang along to songs such as "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" and "Amazing Grace" as my mother accompanied me. I felt the Holy Spirit as I sang, and I saw some of the people wiping away the tears. God touched hearts with His love, including mine, as I sang those dear, old hymns. There was no greater honor for me than to sing to these saints in the Lord as they called out requests.

Songs I sing in the nursing homes and rehabilitation centers include:

Amazing Grace
Jesus Paid It All
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Til The Storm Passes By
Leaning On The Everlasting Arms
Shall We Gather At The River
God Bless America
Sweet Bye and Bye
Jesus Is The Sweetest Name I Know
How Great Thou Art
Savior Like A Shepherd Lead Us
God Is Still On The Throne
Why Do I Sing About Jesus
Precious Memories
In The Garden
Battle Hymn
Old-Time Religion
My Savior First Of All
All That Thrills My Soul
Victory In Jesus
Near The Cross
Old Rugged Cross
What A Friend We Have In Jesus
All The Way My Savior Leads Me

On the way out someone stopped me as I was leaving in the parking lot asking, "What is your fee?" I answered, "I don't charge anything to sing hymns in area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. I'm a Christian, and the Bible says it is 'pure and undefiled religion'." I introduced her to my mother and explained that we just sing at these places as a ministry. She said, "I work at an assited living facility in Knoxville. Would you come and sing to our residents, too?" I told her I would be happy to sing there. My mother and I got in the truck and realized that this may be a new facet of ministry I do regularly in Knoxville and Atlanta. Tomorrow I am scheduled to sing hymns at two nursing homes in Sevierville, TN.
