Leaving for Mexico

I will be leaving for Mexico in the morning and will not be taking my lap top with no Internet service there. However, I'll be able to check emails via my Blackberry.

(All of my expenses have been paid to visit an area of Mexico in prayer about starting a new table outreach there.)

I will post updates on the blog Saturday, a week from today.

I spent some time in prayer this morning, realizing once again that God's way is the ONLY way for me. You know, it HURTS sometimes to walk the road of the cross, but we are never walking it alone. Here is my song of the day, a song I used to sing when I sang solos in churches as a little girl. It is more precious to me now.

More on Angola Prison

On death row, Warden Burl Cain comes to hold the hand of each prisoner as he is dying from lethal injection, stating, "No matter what you believe or whether or not you are right with the Lord, you are about to meet your Maker. You had better get right with Him now." The Warden holds their hand so they won't be alone in death.

(The prison not only has churches on the property but also has a Baptist seminary where the prisoners can get a seminary degree while in prison.)

I look forward to going back to Angola to share my testimony and sing. When it comes to prison ministry and being a part of God's work, there is no greater prison in the country than Angola. Rumor has it, the Warden was offered a whole lot of money from Hollywood to shoot a sex scene for a major movie with Jim Carrey on property at Angola. He turned down the money and refused the offer, because he said, "This place is the Lord's."

Update from Jerusalem

Hi Brothers & Sisters in Jesus:

We want to thank you all for your support for this ministry. We want to tell you about what happened on the Ramadan "Night of Power" among the Moslems in Jerusalem.

We printed 2,500 "Dreams & Visions" DVD's in Arabic containing the testimonies of Moslem's brought to salvation in Jesus through personally experiencing supernatural dreams and visions (see www.dreamsandvisions.com ).

We arranged for a special night of prayer and outreach through the distribution of these DVD's in the streets of Jerusalem on the most special night in the year for Muslims. It is called the "Night of Power and falls on the night of the 27th fasting day during Ramadan.

More than 100 from different churches came together to pray from 6 pm until 12 midnight, during the hours of distribution. This prayer time also became a time of worship and prayer through multiple languages for the Muslim nations of the world to hear and come to Jesus by faith. Six teams having an average of six persons each carried the DVD's into the streets.

The 2500 DVD's were distributed between the hours of 9 and 12 pm. Most of them were gone within 1 1/2 hours. If we only had more resource, many more could have printed and distributed! On this night, more than 300,000 Moslems from around Israel and the Palestinian areas were gathered in Jerusalem to pray at the mosque.

I believe our Lord will use this occasion and these DVD's for his glory (John 15:5, 8). Many people are looking for answers. The DVD's were distributed with contact information. We are regularly receiving return calls from many asking about Jesus. A few Jewish people have also called back in response! Pictures were difficult to take because of the present element of danger. Some of our pictures illustrate the distribution to all types of people.

(1) Please pray for every person receiving a DVD.

(2) Please pray for more willing volunteers to help in this Table Ministry.

(3) Please pray for Arab believers to learn to boldly testify for Jesus.

Interview on "Making it Big" :-)

I consented to an interview to be read by students on campus in the Philippines. Here are my answers:

Advice for aspiring talent on "making it big":

1. Be true to yourself—KNOW yourself (values, etc.)
2. Know your musical style—“what you want to say” and be true to that
3. Get to know “who you are” and don’t compromise on that
4. Do whatever you do in excellence
5. As a Christian, know that God declares the end from the beginning, and He wants to be glorified through the process of accomplishing any goal. Any compromise of what the Bible says is not of God, and the answer is “No”.
6. God gives us a reward greater than this world can give.
7. Live for God’s pleasure and HE WILL BE FAITHFUL
8. God’s plans are higher than ours—purpose first to glorify Him with your HEART
9. Flee temptation—sin is a lie; God never requires us to sin to accomplish something in the end that we may believe will “bring Him glory”
10. A life “hidden with Christ in God” is the best life on earth.

Tips to expand God given talent:

1. When singing in front of a crowd, give the opportunity to God, so that even if it does not go perfectly He can be glorified. Purpose to show His love no matter what. (This will cure being nervous.)
2. Know that singing to God is first, and that He is glorified from a HEART of worship to Him (and not living for man’s applause.)
3. Turn down any song or acting role that hurts God.
4. Love God more than the talent He has given you.
5. Learn some basic warm-up techniques vocally from a vocal coach
6. Drink a lot of water and warm water with ginger when recording
7. Take care of the body. Singing is very, very physical.
8. Don’t sing when hoarse, because it can cause nodules on the throat.
9. Practice, practice, practice to do your BEST for God’s glory. Expect only the best and don’t settle for less.
10. Keep in mind that God never gave us talent for this world. He wants all of the glory. Living in obedience (Romans 12:1) is the best way to guard against pride.

American Moslems Say "Our Time Has Come"

The 700 Club episode tomorrow, Thursday the 24th, 9:00 A.M. Eastern time will feature my friend who "escaped" Islam, literally. She fled to America and has a powerful testimony of how Jesus saved her.

Ministry at Angola Prison

I had planned on posting many photos tonight from my time at Angola; however, I don't have the photos in the correct format for posting. The photos were given to me on a CD in "video" format, which I cannot transfer to the blog individually. I have asked for the photos to be sent to me and provided my address. I did not take any photos with my own camera, as someone else was taking many photos throughout my visit. I trust I will get copies from him on CD to simply transfer to my computer and post on the blog.

I also have photos from the women's conference at Crosspoint Baptist on the video, so hopefully I will get these as well on CD to share.

God has used the Warden at Angola to turn the place around from being known as "the bloodiest prison in the south" to now being a model for prisons all throughout America. Now there are churches on the property, as well as a Southern Baptist seminary where the prisoners can get a seminary degree while in prison!

Ruth Graham has been buried in a casket made by the prisoners at Angola. Billy Graham and Franklin plan to also be buried in caskets built by the prisoners at Angola and have already bought them. Billy Graham is very much connected to Angola.

While I sang on death row, I met a man named Bobby Hampton who was saved. He smiled as I walked by singing "Just As I Am" and "Amazing Grace." He offered me a necklace he made with a cross, and he said he was a singer. I asked, "Do you know 'Soon And Very Soon'?" He smiled and said, "I sure do." We started singing together:

"Soon and very soon we are goin' to see the King..."
"No more cryin' there, we are goin' to see the King..."

Bobby Hampton and I lifted our voices in harmony. No microphones were needed as our voices carried with perfect acoustics in the concrete jail as the other prisoners clapped along on death row.

Sept. 11-13 at Crosspoint Baptist Church

Here I am with my friends at Crosspoint Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We had a great time "Getting Serious About God" and "Finding True Contentment in Jesus." I shared my testimony and spoke about how God wants to be EVERYTHING to us. We also enjoyed great teaching from Diane Perkins, studying the book of Ruth and the examples of godly women in the testimonies of Ruth and Naomi.

This is the first day in Atlanta it has not stormed in over a week. I have had a busy day catching up running errands now that the roads are dry. Plus, I have worked a lot more today on music.

I have enjoyed going through the first batch of photos from Baton Rouge, and I will be posting more on Angola and Crosspoint Baptist Church tomorrow.

I have also been preparing to leave for Mexico. All of my expenses have been paid by Christians for me to go to MX next week for a few days in prayer about starting a new ministry (table outreach) there with a focus on reaching Catholics.

Brief Updates (NYC and Boulder)

NYC: Christine will be setting up the table outreach again this Sunday. I will be emailing people tonight who are members of our former team when we set up at Columbus Circle. (However, God is really at work to give us a strong team in this new location!) I want to let others know she is setting up in case they want to join her after church.

BOULDER: I called Jonathan and got an update today by phone. Jonathan just got married, and he is still busy unpacking. He works full time, and so does his wife, Carrie, in addition to all of the hours they spend in missions. I encouraged him to unpack and get organized as much as possible.... He said he plans to be out at the Boulder ministry table next month. He explained the camera is still packed, and he would try to find it. I told him that I wanted to convey to our prayer partners all God is doing through our outreach in Boulder, and photos are much appreciated. We hope to get a summary and photos soon. Jonathan said they went by foot last weekend and did not set up the table, but they plan to set up the table on Pearl Street in Oct.

The Same Bible I Quote to Others is LIFE to Me

I am going to get to church early tonight and read my Bible. I plan to read some of the Psalms, as well as the New Testament. I have had a great time in prayer today, down on my knees.

You know, it is a battle worth fighting to STAY in the Word of God and CONTINUE in prayer and thanksgiving when "a fiery ordeal" comes about once again for our testing. However, it is a battle worth fighting and a race worth winning in Jesus.

And, we can win every single time in Him.

In Touch Magazines Donated

Charles Stanley has donated "In Touch" magazines, which we will be using at our "LTW to the Smokies" location, as well as our new location of outreach here in Atlanta when the outreach table begins. (We used to hand out "In Touch" magazines at Venice Beach weekly when we would offer free food to the neighborhood and have been working with In Touch since 2003.)

Work Tomorrow After Church

I plan to put together some articles for Nitoy, the leader in the Philippines. Plus, I want to provide him and his team with links where they can go on the Internet and print off articles to give to the lost to lead them to the Lord. These resources will be great for their table, in addition to the materials I will be sending in the physical mail. I will share the links on the blog, as Nitoy has asked for specific materials for the next table outreach.

I am looking forward to church tomorrow. It has rained all week. I am waiting for the weather to clear up to transport my books and tracts from the storage unit to the mailouts for the Philippines and the possible new outreach in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Soon to come: an update and photos from last weekend in Baton Rouge at Crosspoint Baptist Church, including more details about the joy of doing ministry at Angola prison (once called "the bloodiest prison in the south" until God transformed it for His glory to make it a model for prisons all over the country. It even has a Baptist seminary on site where prisoners can get a seminary degree while in prison. I could sense the Holy Spirit as I stayed there with a Bible in every room of the nice guest house on the prison grounds.)

LTW Update: Last Night in West Hollywood

A man and his girl friend stopped by asking about our beliefs. (There are lots of people stopping by and it's only 9:30!--It's going very well, and the crowds don't usally get here until around 11:00, so we plan to be out late.)

Here Joe is conversing with a Jewish man who is a professing Kabbalist; he is the second Jewish person to stop by tonight. Joe is sharing Bible verses to show the trinue nature of God in the Old Testament.

Need for NYC Outreach: Praying for a Camera

Christine took two photos from her cell phone, because she does not have a digital camera. The table looked great last Sunday! One of the photos shows Susan witnessing to a man at the table.

Unfortunately, the photos came out very small and a tad blurry; I managed to enlarge them for the blog format, but they are still very blurry. I told Christine we would pray for God to provide a digital camera for her and the NYC outreach.
