Fasting from TV Again

People who have been reading my blog for years will not be surprised to read that I am fasting from TV again. :-) God puts this on my heart from time to time to be more focused on Him. It is usually through a serious time that He burdens me to do this, and this is one of those times. I just feel the need to pray about this new ministry soon to begin in Atlanta (with MUCH preparation for it yet to go) and for our leaders in every location. Plus, without the television, I can read more and spend less time with the news, quickly glancing at it on the computer.

Last night I drifted off to sleep listening to a sermon and plan to hear at least one per day. I was reminded last night that there are no "great men of God", just weak, helpless, silly, simple-minded, rebellious....sinners with a GREAT Savior. A sign that we belong to God is how He never lets us go. Paul Washer said in a sermon that a person could get in a car and plan to drive far away from God, but if he or she is truly His, He will be there to meet them wherever they go. How true! How glorious! The reason the lost can sin so easily is because they are reserved for the day of judgment. Paul Washer spoke about how that from the womb, God said, "Jacob I loved; Esau I hated." Jacob sinned a lot, but God was always there to correct and meet Him. Not so with Esau.

Tonight, I have Bible study and then I plan to work on a few more "thank-you" gifts, which will all be mailed out tomorrow. I will then be done with the thank-you gifts for 2009 and ready to work on my next ministry update. I have one article to finish, which I have co-written, as a book review on God Calling. Plus, I need to post about a ministry to orphans in Liberia. Then, I will send out the ministry update along with receipts for 2009 to all who made donations.

Denying myself today so Jesus can live through me,
