Update from Patty, Dec., 2009:
Hi Dwayna,
I met Jonathan and Carrie Jolly this afternoon, as well as Trevor, for an hour of fellowship and an hour of outreach on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. We didn't set up the table today. I will write later about the people with whom I spoke. It was a challenge and an honor to talk with two angry non-believers and a couple Christian brothers. I am just in awe that God uses me to remind people of His presence. I'm attaching three photos from today. Both people agreed to let their photos be used. Ron is a homeless vendor of the Denver Voice newspaper who wants to get off the streets. He said he is a Christian. In another picture I'm giving one of the Santa million dollar bill tracts to a woman waving a sign for a nearby store. Finally, a picture of the sign above the door of the Lighthouse Bookstore, a good illustration of "do not let the light that is within you be darkness". They purport to shine light into people's lives but actually lead them further into darkness.
On a personal note, as a result of your table ministry in Boulder, I read Running Against the Wind by Brian Flynn and was really amazed. I hadn't realized the danger of some of the practices popular in churches today. Then my daughter started talking about doing a retreat of silence and lectio divina during our summer church camp for high school students. (She is a recent college graduate). Alarmed, I mailed her a copy of the book, and she told me today that she is half-way through it and she likes it. I'm so thankful she is open to Brian Flynn's testimony and warnings...
God bless you,
Patty
