LTW Update: NYC

From Heidi (update on outreach last Sunday):

We girls were able to make our appearance once again in the subway tunnel underneath the Times Square subway station in New York City. This is now our temporary "home" while winter lasts, and this Sunday was quite cold. We decided to set up in the same location and anticipated -- with much excitement -- the opportunity to hand out all the various materials we have received from [Dwayna] and other donors and ministries.

As soon as we set up, the enemy thought he would throw a wrench into our evangelism outreach by having a group of youths, ranging from about 6-7 years old to some who were older teens and even an adult, set up a breakdancing routine performance right next to where we were. One of the younger boys came over to our table requesting our consent for them to set up, to which I replied that it would not be a good idea as I could hardly raise my voice due to allergies and losing my voice, and it would cause a distraction. They decided to set up anyway, and we tried to continue ministering.

After a while, the music was such a loud distraction that not only was it precluding me and Christine and Suzi from hardly being able to speak above it, but it was causing many people to overlook our table and head over to watch them perform. All the while this was going on, we decided to pray about the Lord removing this obstacle or at least making it possible for us to continue to work. We also prayed for them to receive the Gosple and for salvation. We then decided that it would be more productive to move the table away from them. Once we did, people started to approach once again.

Various people from all walks stopped by, some asking questions, others desiring to know what church we were from or what organization we represented. As always, we answered that we were born-again Christians and that this is our evangelism, apologetics and discernment ministry, and we attend different churches. Some people came by the table and were so grateful to see us there, and others wanted to know about attending a good church. One lady kept asking if we would be there every Sunday, to which I replied that as long as we were able, and were healthy and the Lord permits, we would be there, and hopefully with more items. Several people desired to give us small donations, which we greatly appreciated, as this is money that we can turn back to the ministry for the procurement of more needed materials. Suzi and Christine were able to engage with various people, some of whom were involved in New Age beliefs.

At one point, and I have to say -- quite shockingly -- a large group of young adults walked past us parading only in their winter coats with only their underwear on for pants, and all this during a day where the temperature was probably in the high 20s and no more than 32 degrees, at most. Fortunately, several of them took Gospel of John booklets and some even approached the table and took materials.

We stayed at our location from about 2:30 p.m. until around 5:00 p.m. We were so thankful to Jesus that He allowed us, once again, to be able to be ambassadors of the Gospel of Peace!! We have need of more materials in Spanish, Asian languages, and Arabic, and more music, CDs and DVDs. Also, the Hebrew/English Old Testaments and the Hebrew/English New Testaments were a hit. Many took them even though they did not speak Hebrew, but they seemed enamored with the Word of God, which is quite amazing!!!

We hope to have some ministry cards with our contact information very soon, so people may contact us with any questions they may have and we can continue to evangelize in follow-up e-mails.

As always, we pray for many more opportunities to be able to share the Gospel and desire to be salt and light to world. As the Scriptures say:

Romans 10:15 "And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!'"

Shalom!!

Your sister in Christ Jesus, Yeshua HaMashiach,

Heidi
