I am not sure exactly why God wanted me here this weekend with so much rain in the forecast, but I know He has a reason for everything. I trust I am meant to be at this conference tomorrow in Orange County on apologetics. The whole LTW team (who work at Venice Beach and West Hollywood) will hopefully be joining me at the conference.
Ray Yungen, author of A Time of Departing (exposing dangers of contemplative prayer); Warren Smith, author of A Wonderful Deception, The Light That Was Dark and Deceived on Purpose (exposing New Age paradigms in and out of the church); and Johanna Michaelsen, author of Beautiful Side of Evil (exposing the dangers of occult spirituality) will be there speaking along with others. Since we use these books and give them out via our LTW table outreach locations, it will be great for the team to meet these authors. I have never met Ray Yungen, and I am looking forward to meeting him. It will be a day of great encouragement for everyone as we want to tenaciously stand for the Bible and cling to it in these days of apostasy.
The conference will be held at Pacific Coast Calvary Chapel in Westminster, and I will be there from 9 A.M. to 3. Lord willing there will be more evangelism to do afterwards... I have invited many people, and I know of one person in particular who said he would come who is really struggling. Like I said, I am not quite sure why God let it rain this weekend, but He knows what He is doing. I pray He will be glorified through my life tomorrow at the conference.
As for Sunday, after I sing at Venice Foursquare Church, I plan to walk up and down the boardwalk and see my old friends at Venice Beach. Hopefully, we can talk about Jesus, even though I will not have the table set up on Sunday. The skies are supposed to be clear on Sunday with the rain gone.
Tonight we called off West Hollywood, due to rain. It has not been easy since I got here, but I am not going to complain. God gave me a round trip ticket on a Delta direct flight for 200.00 and a room for 60.00 a night. He is faithful to meet needs! The rental car, however, was so bad I felt it was not safe to drive. Today I took it back, and they replaced it with a very nice car. I woke up this morning, evidently from sleeping in a bad position, and I could barely turn my neck. I am sitting now with a heating pad. It is not the first time I have had a hard time on a mission trip or when I am scheduled to sing. I know all about spiritual warfare, but I also know all about how Jesus is victorious to use me in my weakness. In my weakness He is strong, and tonight I am praying for Him to heal my neck so I can turn it and sing easier on Sunday. It would also be nice to speak with people tomorrow without a stiff neck. I smile when I think of all I take for granted on a regular basis. What a comfort to know that nothing takes God by surprise. Nothing can touch us without His permission.
I love doing this work that is all about Jesus and not about me. Of course, I love it, because He lives in my heart. He saved me for this purpose!!
