LTW to NYC: Update from last Sunday

Here is an update from Heidi and the team. (Photos are soon to come.)

Hello Dwayna, Shalom and Peace!!

This past Sunday, we braved the extremely cold weather to once again set up at our usual location beneath the 42nd St./Times Square subway tunnel for our table outreach to reach the lost and the saved alike with our Gospel materials in the form of Bibles in English, Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic languages, various tracts, music cds and teaching cds on various Biblical topics, as well as various books concerning the New Age movements as well as the emergent/contemplative movements and roman catholicism.

One of the initial passersby was a gentlemen who at first, I thought, was curious regarding the Gospel and the attributes and deity of Jesus Christ, who He is and what He has done as He is the Creator as well as the ministry of the Holy Spirit and who He is in relation to Jesus and God the Father. At first, it seemed that the man had genuine intentions of understanding but it soon was made apparent that he was no more than a rabble-rouser who was trying to cause havoc and distraction, as he became very vocal. At a certain point, I refused to answer any more of his questions and urged him to read the Bible as all his questions were answered by the Word of God and, thankfully, Suzi was able to engage with him so that I could continue to minister to true seekers.

Several people passed by who were friends of Suzi and Christine, including one man who happened to remember our ministry when Suzi and Christine used to set up at 79th Street and Broadway. The man was very grateful to have received a book which was an encouragement to him and was very happy to have run into us at our new location. I was able to engage with more people this time out and was able to hand out many materials as well as engage them in spiritual matters, including the need for salvation and the need for repentant faith and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

There were many police officers in the tunnel but it seems that we had God's favor as they did not stop us from continuing to do our Father's business.

Another lady, who called herself a Roman Catholic, but spoke more to the wisdom of a born-again Christian, engaged with me for quite a while in Spanish. She was very joyful and her love for the Saviour was obvious. She was quoting Bible verses and explained to me how much she loves to talk about Jesus and thinks the Catholic Church has issues. I urged her to make sure she is saved, and to find a good Bible church as the other church teaches "another jesus" and "another gospel".

Several other persons were looking for a decent church to attend and I recommended them to visit my church, Heritage Baptist, and also recommended Pastor Recker's Sunday night radio show which comes on WMCA 570 a.m from 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Once again, requests were made for more complete Bibles in English and Spanish, as well as more music cds and teaching cds in Spanish. I also noticed that since the 7 train line is near where we set up, more Koreans probably pass by our table along with Chinese and other Asians, so there is definitely a need for more Korean materials. A few of the Arabic materials were taken and our last Hebrew/English Tanakh was taken.

While it was really cold, our hearts were warmed to be able to share -- once again -- the Good News that saves!!!

In Jesus,
Heidi
