'Taize' Worship Spreading in PCA Churches

Contemplative prayer practices are catching on like fire. Right here in Atlanta, Church of the Redeemer (PCA) has started to incorporate a practice called "Taize" worship. A member of the church emailed me, lamenting that she is going to have to leave the church now, due to extrabiblical practices that are more akin to Eastern spirituality than Christianity. Here is an excerpt from their newsletter this month:

"February 3, 2010 -
This week at Church of the Redeemer:
...2. THINGS TO KNOW
• Art Classes
• Super Bowl
Taizé Returns
• Field Tripp "

Sadly, Redeemer Presbyterian NYC is now being named among the "SwerveChurches." http://swerve.lifechurch.tv/websites/

For those of us not raised in "swerve churches", managing to know God apart from "Taizing", the maturity and depth of God's Word is still enough for us in getting to know Him in a relationship that is all about what He has done for us on the cross and not based on the pursuit of emotional experiences contrived by man. It may be a narrow road (away from Rome), but He is still ENOUGH on that road!
