Answered Prayer (Sunday at Venice Beach)

(Written yesterday)

Here I am with my friend who is a jewelry vendor; we used to set up tables side by side back when I began the table outreach of apologetics at Venice. She used to take books from our table and read them about Jesus.

It was so good seeing my old friend, Swami. I cried when I told him, "Goodbye," and moved from CA...I said I wanted to see him in heaven. We hugged, and he seemed touched by my tears. This came after years of witnessing to him. I have given him a Bible in Tamil and also shared the Gospel with him too many times to count over the years. Still, only God can quicken the heart for salvation through Jesus. Swami still manages the main Hindu table on the boardwalk. We used to sit together for hours, and I would give him Bible verse after Bible verse. However, he had a demonic interpretation for them all. Finally, Matthew 10:28 stumped him. Hinduism had given him no explanation for a God who would destroy both body and soul in hell.

The Lord touched hearts as I shared my testimony and sang last Sunday morning at Venice Foursquare Church, so I wanted to thank everyone who prayed for me. It does not get any better than the Holy Spirit at work, where people see Jesus when they see me. This was my prayer.

After church we took a walk along the Venice Beach boardwalk, and I saw my old friends there in the neighborhood. It made me feel so good, because they still knew me by name after all these years. They know I genuinely love them. It just goes to show that salvation is God's work. The vendors embedded in occult spirituality can only be saved by God, and if they died today they would be in hell. As I knew from the very beginning, our table on the boardwalk is there to be part of God's work as He brings up people from all over the world through tourism at Venice Beach. I never thought all the psychics and Hindus would get saved. At least they continue to hear the truth from our table about the Gospel, and they know we love them.

As we walked along Ocean Front Walk yesterday after church, I had a chance to witness to a girl involved in Hare Krishna. She thought all gods are the same and that everything is "of love." I asked, "Well, if someone raped your mother, wouldn't you agree that is evil?" She agreed. I asked, "If someone killed your mother for no reason, wouldn't you agree that is evil?" She agreed. I then began to tell her what the Bible says about Satan. She interrupted, "So, are you trying to say that Hare Krishna is of Satan?" I said, "What I am trying to say is that Satan does exist, and the Bible says to test the spirits." I asked, "Do you know the difference between Jesus of Nazareth and Lord Krishna?" She listened. I answered, "Jesus, because of His death and resurrection, offers us salvation by grace, not works. This is not the case in Hare Krishna or any other religion." She retorted, "I am not buying it. You have to work at any relationship." I said, "Yes, but we cannot make Jesus love us any more if we are His because of the work He did for us on the cross. He bought us with His blood, and He is the one who earned our freedom and eternal life on our behalf."

The Hare Krishna parade was passing, and she had to continue on with the cymbal playing, occult-hopping band. I realized as she left me that, unless God quickens the heart, all the right answers will never save.

Photos will soon follow on the blog. In between appointments I meant to update the blog today, but I have not had free Internet access. Hopefully, I will catch up tomorrow.

Only by His grace,
Dwayna
