LTW Update: Long Beach, CA

I am pleased to announce that the Lord was with us as the pastor of First Bapt. Long Beach met with Dan and me last Tuesday. We are now going to be working with First Baptist Long Beach in a partnership. The church is going to store our custom made cart for witnessing in Long Beach. This will make it much easier to get the cart out to Pine Street to offer the Gospel materials to the people and also invite them to church on Sundays at First Bapt. The pastor, John Wilkerson, loves evangelism and says he tries to get out regularly to pass out tracts and talk to people. I responded, "Why is it the most humble pastors are always the only ones interested in getting out there with the lost and sharing the Gospel?" I told him that, ironically, a love for the lost through evangelism is rare among pastors. Most pastors don't want to be with the lost and meet them where they are with the Gospel on the streets. I was honored to meet with such a humble pastor for over an hour. We all agreed that this ministry belongs to Jesus and not people. We all just want to be pleasing to Him. We are only going to use King James Bibles in this location. The pastor said it just makes it easy to stay away from unsound translations when that is all his church uses. I agreed that there are many unsound translations, and I explained that we normally use the New King James but would be more than happy to only offer the King James version to the people we meet in Long Beach.
We are thankful to be working with Pastor John Wilkerson and the members of Long Beach First Baptist to share the Gospel with the people of Long Beach and offer them answers in the name of Jesus and His love.
