Here are two more summaries from the weekly table outreach of apologetics in Times Square, NYC. (I will be working with the team when I visit soon on Resurrection Sunday).
Greetings,
Glad to know that bruiser is healing up Heidi!!
Praise to the Lord for bringing many seekers to the table. I remember searching and wanting to know if there was truth to be found after coming out of Mormonism and New Age beliefs. To find Jesus and His word to be true and faithful is the greatest discovery of life! It's a privilege to share with others the only true bread that satisfies!
I met Dillon who was raised in paganism but always wanted to read the Bible. He was with a believing friend and was so excited that we were passing out Bibles and gladly received one. We shared how the Lord has worked in our lives and prayed that Jesus would give him wisdom and understanding in his search.
Many people have been turned off to empty ritual and hypocrisy, and that's a good thing. It's a healthy sign when people are not satisfied with a counterfeit. They are relieved to find that we don't follow empty forms of religion either but encourage all to worship Jesus in spirit and truth and to test everything by His Word.
One man offered me a free gift which was a mantra that claimed that we are not separate from creation but are one with God and divine. This pantheistic view of God is so prevalent today! I explained that while that might sound believable, it's the oldest lie in the book which began with the serpent beguiling Eve.
I continue to pray that we be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks for the hope we have with gentleness and respect and also I Timothy l:9, holding fast the faithful word as has been taught and able by sound doctrine both to exhort and convict those who contradict.
We met Vivian who started reading the Bible in a history class and was fascinated by it. She later met a Christian in Central America but didn't know any Christians here. I invited her to a Bible study this week and she came and is excited to meet other believers and to study together.
As we seek to lift Him up, we trust He will continue to draw others to Himself!
God bless,
Suzi
----------------------
It was a blessing to serve the Lord last Sunday. You never know what He has in store. There are so many interesting people we've met and so many that are lost, but praise to the name of the Lord, He brings them over so that we can meet with them!
I met a couple of people who claimed to have visions (actually there were 3 but I spoke with 2 one-on-one). One young man I spoke with said he was saved through having visions or dreams of Christ, and then he started having apocalyptic visions. He said that he's seen the beast's hand rising out of the earth, coming from the region of Assyria (or the region of the Middle East) and is of Islam, and that we are in these times now. I said, "Yes, I believe we are close." I asked him about his belief in Jesus Christ and who Jesus is to him-- He said he absolutely claims Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. I was kind of startled by what he said and am unsure of what to make of it, though this young man seemed humble and not afraid. (Unlike another man who came by the table and claimed to have visions by putting books or the Bible underneath his pillow.) I do know there is a counterfeit, and we must test all spirits and things to see if they stand against the word of God.
A woman with whom I spoke said that she was miraculously saved after being the victim of an air conditioner falling on her head from 15 feet up in the air. She said after it happened, she saw Jesus coming down before her, and after that she was saved. She also said that she claims Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Unfortunately, she spoke really softly, so I could not hear all of what she said, though I believe she asked for prayer for her daughter who is unsaved. She was radiant as she spoke of Jesus. Does God still work in people through dreams or visions? I know I've read of a lot of accounts of people who have been visited by Christ in their dreams and that is how they have become saved.... mostly in countries where there is a lot of Christian persecution. And in the Bible it does say that in the end times, the Spirit will be poured out and men will have visions and prophecy.... (Acts 2:17-21)
I think all we can do is test the spirits; and if what they see and say stands against the word of God.
Please keep us, as well as those we meet and those who take Bibles, tracts, and books, in your prayers and that the seeds planted will be continually watered and grow unto salvation. Thank you to all who donate.
Blessed be the name of the Lord and that of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ forever! Amen.
Christine
