Shalom Dwayna!!After taking a week off for some much needed rest, we once again set up in the subway underneath Times Square in New York City.
We were blessed to have a new helper assist us at our table this Sunday, a young lady by the name of Sareetha (sp?), whom Suzi met when she visited with you [Dwayna] at the Bowery Mission when you were here in New York City during Holy Week and Resurrection Sunday. This young sis was very wise in discernment and apologetics and quite mature for her age, as she is in her early 20s. She reminded me of a young Timothy, who didn't wish to have her youth despised, and reminded me of myself when I was radically saved by Jesus and my eyes were truly awakened not only to the Truth of the Gospel and Salvation, but also to the end times era we find ourselves in. Sareetha has an amazing testimony of having come out of bondage, both spiritual and physical, and now she is on a quest for all things True and has a zeal for knowledge and wisdom and, most of all, for evangelism!! The Lord is so good having her join with us in our common salvation and mission as ambassadors of the Gospel of Peace!!
Having prayed for protection and divine appointments, we were approached by various individuals asking questions, others making statements, and several others taking of the various materials we had. All of the Bibles were taken, and many of the books concerning the New Age infiltration into "Christianity" as well. One young lady was astonished to hear that yoga was a New Age vehicle to Eastern mysticism and the occult. I was able to give out a Hindi Language Bible to a woman who, upon receiving it, expressed her gratitude with a wonderful smile. We can only hope that she will indeed read this most precious book and come to know Jesus. I also was able to give out a CD in Russian to someone called "Words of Life". The person told me that they wanted to pass it on to their Russian friends. One young woman took an information sheet we had called "Dear Muslim Friend," which explains the difference between Islam and Christianity. The same woman was quite surprised that we had the Old Testament, which she kept calling "the Torah" on our table, as we were Christians. I told her that as Biblical Christians who have been born again of the Holy Spirit, we worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and, as such, we follow the Old and New Testaments, the old covenant having been superseded by the new and better covenant.
Another young lady came to the table seeking answers to her questions and prayer for her situation, as she was in an abusive marriage and was currently living in a shelter. It was apparent that she was hungry for God, although she needed to be pointed on the right path to Him as some of her beliefs were syncretistic, in other words, a little bit of this and a little bit of that. We had the privilege of praying for her and encouraged her to read all the materials we gave her and to email us with any other questions or prayer requests she might have. I also invited her to come visit at our church as there might be a possibility for her to find a roommate situation, in addition to being spiritually fed by the Gospel.
A young man came to the table and took a lot of our materials and claimed that he was in the habit of passing them out to others on the subway, as well as at church(es). Suzi engaged with him for quite some time, and I was able to hear a little of the conversation. Before he left the table, he handed out some "ministry cards" promoting Charles Branham, a false teacher. Suzi and I discussed this later, and she said that the enemy is crafty as a lot of what this gentlemen said was "right on", but then there were the errors and lies which were hidden in his beliefs. We hope and pray that this man will find a good Bible believing church instead of seeking after "signs and wonders" and other "doctrines of demons".
Some Jewish people walked by but, unfornately, as far as I know, hardly any of them took the Hebrew Bibles, although several of the Gentile people were curious about them. One young man, who claimed to be Jewish, did stop by the table, and I was able to provide him with several apologetic tracts explaining how a Jew can be a Christian (as belief in Christ makes one a Christian, but a person's nationality does not change), and he did take a Tanakh and a Brit Chadashah (Old Testament and New Testament).
Some of the apologetics concerning Roman Catholicism vs. Scripture and Biblical Faith were taken.... and other various materials.
In all, it was a good day, and we were happy to be there serving as a beacon of light to the world!!
We ended our time in prayer and, once again, asked the Lord to continue to provide more Bibles and tracts, supplies and materials, both in English and Spanish, as well as for salvation for those who are lost and for more laborers to join with us in the Great Commission.
We also encouraged and continue to encourage people to email us with any questions or prayer requests. We have an email for this purpose and it is: thegoodnewsfriends@yahoo.com
Praise be to Jesus!!
