Thinking About the "Christian Occult" Today

But there were false prophets even as there will be false teachers among you who will secretly bring in their destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. II Peter 2:1,2

This verse came from Suzi, one of the members of the NYC team of evangelism and apologetics. It made me think about how the tools of the occult are being more and more accepted today in churches. Satan is very real. Satan has a testimony, too, in that he will give those who follow this "angel of light" signs and wonders. Mediumship, super-speed, no need of food or sleep...the list goes on and on. Yes, "something" is happening--with spirits much stronger than people at work. But, these demonic spirits are not holy. What a comfort to know that God has no deceit in Him; the demons tremble at the name and power of Jesus, and no power can snatch us out of God's hands (John 10) because of our FAITHFUL SHEPHERD.
