Someone wrote me today insinuating that my blog has lately been 'all about me.' I responded by saying that when I share my testimony 'about me,' it draws others to Jesus to see what Jesus has done in my life. My victories are all about Jesus and not about me. Would it make people feel more comfortable to see me living in defeat? She encouraged me to answer with Scripture, so here is a response based on Scripture.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Here is a verse for anyone uncomfortable with a blog about being happy as a single person and having no idols of the heart:
"They overcame...because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the Word of their testimony..." Revelation 12:11
I don't believe I need to state verses about loving the Lord with all of our heart enough to stay away from false gods. It is the first and greatest commandment. (Luke 10:27)
"...Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves." Romans 15:22
"Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls, and stand he will for the Lord is able to make him stand." Romans 14:5
Sometimes I feel that we, as Christians, have gotten so used to living lives in defeat that we no longer believe God can give us victory over sin. He is strong in my weakness today, and He gets all of the glory for that. It is much easier, by the way, to start a new table outreach than LIVE for Jesus with all of my heart. Sorry if it makes some uncomfortable, but He has given me victory, and He has done it for me to share about Him. I am weak, but He is strong, just like the little song the children sing in church, and He has set me free. And, I don't take that freedom for granted, as I pray that God will keep me in this place one day at a time. (Galatians 5:1; Galatians 5:13; 1 Corinthians 10:12)
"But may it never be that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world." Galatians 6:14.
