“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?” —Isaiah 66:1
The idolatry of fallen man, the pride of fallen man, and the adultery of fallen man is worse in the most subtle of arenas: in the very worship that takes place each Sunday in the name of Jesus Christ. “We are a town within a city,” says one minister. He continues, saying, “It’s a phenomenon of this generation…. It’s meeting some niche here.” We act as if we can say, “Look what marvelous things we have done for you, Lord!”
The truth has not been opened to such a person; for had the revelation of the truth of Jesus Christ and His atoning death gone forth within his soul, he would fall upon his face before the truth of Christ’s cross, as would we all, and cry, “Look at all You have done for me, Lord!”
The Scriptures declare that the heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. What a blessed comfort it is to know with certainty that the God is in charge and not man; that He is in control; that He is Lord and King. “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker” (Psalms 95:6).
