Singing Today

I have had the best Memorial Day! I have been recording my new song, "Place Of Surrender." I wanted to write about something that happened that was rather strange. My voice was in perfect shape, and I was really ready to sing the song, but we kept have technical problems. Grady, the producer, would say, "This has never happened before." We were having trouble with the microphone, and the whole thing was just getting off to a hard start. Finally, I said, "Let's pray." I prayed for God to help us. In my prayer in Jesus' name I said, "Sometimes we give Satan too much credit; sometimes things just happen, but, Lord, if this is spiritual warfare, will You please clear up these problems? We come in Jesus' name and ask You to bring Yourself glory through this song, and clear up these technical problems if we are facing something strange that involves a spiritual force at work only You can control. In Jesus' name, Amen."

You know what? No more problems after that prayer.

I know some people reading this blog do not believe in Satan, and some think what the Bible calls "spiritual warfare" to be laughable. But, the Bible says that Jesus commands the spirits, and sometimes we face spiritual opposition in life, especially when God is at work in a project. When I got done praying, Grady reminded me that even if we were facing some sort of strange, spiritual opposition in so many things going wrong, we are promised victory in Jesus' name. THE WHOLE SONG CAME TOGETHER EASILY AFTER THAT PRAYER! Maybe it was just a coincidence, but there was such a dramatic difference I won't forget that experience. Even the Pro-Tools (for recording) were not working properly, but after that prayer, the whole song came together easily with everything working just fine. For so many reasons, we can give God the glory for this song.

Grady is an excellent producer. He said, "You have a very passionate voice, and you need the right arrangements for your songs to make the most of the emotion you convey." I learned a lot, and I listened to the rough mix the whole way back home. Grady only does Christian music, specializing in Christian Jazz, and we hope to have something very unique.

We will probably have the whole song done with the final mix by next week. I can't wait! I will post it on my FB music page, and probably also soon on YouTube with some beautiful pictures.
