We have been discussing Israel on my Facebook page, and here is a comment from Doc:

That page, obviously, takes you to articles, but poke around the whole site, and you'll get an eyeful. It's interesting how these evangelicals (?) and liberals are compelled to cooperate against Israel.
At this link, http://www.christianzionism.org/resourcesN.asp#SaltOfTheEarth , they say, "Christian Zionism…calls Christians to unconditionally support right-wing Jewish Zionists in their efforts to occupy all of Palestine, even if these efforts result in explicitly or implicitly repudiating the teachings of Jesus." Of course, it's a straw man. Apparently, there are some who take that position, but it goes without saying that those of us in favor of Israel don't all believe in unconditional support of evil, whatever form it may take. (Aside: perhaps Israel needs to be disciplined as in days of old, but woe to the nations that take on that supposed responsibility. Babylon rightly punished Israel, but God took it out on Babylon afterwards. I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.)
For you and me and those like us, it's important to remind others that the OT compels Israel to show kindness to the stranger. I don't know where some people (apparently, Pat Robertson) get the idea that other ethnicities aren't allowed in that land. Perhaps there are distinctions of language--such as being allowed in the land with rights and privilege for all of the state of Israel's citizens regardless of ethnicity vs having a right to the land separately from the state of Israel and in contention with the state of Israel--that are not being heard by people on each side of the argument.
Peace and grace in Christ Jesus,
Doc
