LTW Update: Last Sunday in NYC

Sculpture of Jeremiah Lanphier
Greetings from the Good News Friends,

It has been fun visiting different places in the city to share the the gospel! Yesterday the weather was doing all kinds of crazy things so after a wind storm at Columbus Circle, we decided to join Jeremiah Lanphier outside the American Bible Society at W 61st & Broadway. There sits a life-sized sculpture of him on a bench with Bible in hand. He was a simple man who called people to prayer in the financial district in 1857. The first prayer meeting began with 6 people, but within weeks it grew to hundreds and sparked a huge revival of people turning to God and His Word. How we need this kind of revival today! This is our prayer!

Many people approached the bench and knew nothing about the history of Jeremiah. It made for a great introduction to the gospel, and we offered tracts and gospels of John. The first couple that approached were Hindus. I shared that while Hinduism is the worship of many gods, the Bible declares Jesus Christ as the only True God who bore our sins on the cross and offers salvation and eternal life to all who place their trust in Him. I shared my testimony of coming out of Mormonism and my search for truth which ended when I found Jesus. They both welcomed a gospel of John and we pray the Lord will open their eyes to His great love and salvation!

Don did not believe we could trust the Bible "because it was written by man and there are so many interpretations". I shared that All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. II Timothy 3:16 I then shared how I came to faith in Jesus and encouraged him to prayerfully read the gospel of John with an open mind and heart and trust God to reveal Himself through His Word. I gave him our email address for any questions and trust that the Holy Spirit will guide him into all truth!

It was a real treat to meet Elaina, a Christian from Atlanta who arrived just two days ago. She came to work for Martha Stewart with a desire to share Jesus with those who have everything but nothing apart from Him As I John 5:11 states, He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." May the Lord use Elaina in a mighty way to share the love and life of Jesus here in our city!

We thank the Lord for the freedom we have to hand out the Word of Life and pray that Jesus will continue to draw many souls to Him!

God bless!
