LTW Update: NYC

(Photo taken of team after working on a rainy day.)
Update from Heidi:

Greetings Dwayna!

Due to the inclement weather on Sunday, and the heat and humity, we were not able to set up either in the subway, our usual spot, or outside in front of the Post Office on 33rd Street and 8th Avenue, so we settled on passing out tracts and books in front of the building where the church's administrative offices are located. We were blessed to have Raquel join us and assist us in evangelism and setup. Since it was pouring rain, Suzi and I hung out under the scaffolding in front of the building while Christine and Raquel went across the street to witness.

I had several people take various tracts and books, including New Testament Bibles. While I had some brief conversations with some, Suzi was able to engage more deeply with some of the passersby. I also heard that Christine and Raquel had some encounters with various people.

After staying out on the sidewalk for about an hour and a half, we decided to pack up and then head over to the diner to have a time of fellowship. It was wonderful to be able to discuss all things dear to us on the apologetics and discernment front, as well as to be able to pray for all the souls we tried to reach. We hope that many seeds were planted and that many would truly seek Jesus and salvation.

We parted ways around 8:30 p.m.

God Bless!

Update from Suzie:

Greetings,

I had an interesting chat with Ed and John who both welcomed gospels of John and had many questions about the Bible. They seemed to be looking for meaning and purpose in life. I shared that I have found no meaning and true satisfaction in life apart from knowing Jesus. I prayed that as they read the gospel, God would open up their minds and hearts to discover that He is the true life and the only One who truly satisfies.

Damien opened up about her painful relationship with her family. She told me she was gay and was on her way to a church that doesn’t judge her for her lifestyle. I explained that while Jesus loves her and has great compassion for her pain, He does judge sin. I shared from I Corinthians 6:9-ll that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you but you were washed, but you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. I told her I would be unloving and dishonest not to share the truth of God’s Word and encouraged her to believe and trust in Jesus for healing.

We were encouraged to have Raquel with us who believes we are all called to do the work of an evangelist. She also joined us Wednesday night for Prayer & Apologetics. Dwayna sent us an excellent study by Bob Deeway which exposes the Emergent Church and the Quantum lie that God is in everything and that all paths lead to God. We had a great time of prayer and we continue to ask that the Lord to raise up more men and women who will contend for the truth of the gospel.

May we continue to be about our Father’s business and by His grace we long to hear Him say, “Well done good and faithful servants.” That is really all that matters!

God bless all that pray for us and support this ministry!
