Quoting from Islam

SELECTED HADITH
(SAYINGS OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMED)
From Muhammed Muhsin Khan,
The Translation of the Meanings of Sahih al-Bukhari

Narrated Abdullah: I asked the Prophet, "Which deed is the dearest to Allah?" He replied, "To offer prayers at their fixed times" I asked, "What is the next (in goodness)" He replied, "To be good and dutiful to your parents." I asked again, "What is next (in goodness)?" He replied, "To participate in jihad in Allah’s cause."

Narrated Abu Musa: A man came to the Prophet and asked, "a man fights for war booty; another fights for fame and a third fights for showing off; which of them fights in Allah’s cause?" The Prophet said, "He who fights so that Allah’s Word should be superior, fights in Allah’s cause."

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, " I have been ordered by Allah to fight the people till they say: ‘None has the right to be worshiped but Allah, and whoever said it then he will save his life and property."

Narrated Jubair bin Haiya: "Umar sent the Muslims to the great countries to fight the pagans...(the) Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you until you worship Allah alone or give Jizya (tribute)."

Narrated Ikrima: The statement of Allah’s Apostle, " Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him."

Narrated Abu Qatada: Allah’s Apostle said, "Whoever had killed an infidel and has proof or a witness for it, then the salb (the belongings of the deceased) will be for him."

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, "To the person who carries out jihad for His Cause and nothing compelled him to go out but the jihad in His Cause, and belief in His Words, Allah guarantees that He will either admit him into Paradise or return him with the reward or booty he has earned to his residence from where he went out."
