LTW Update: Rio Grande Valley

RIO GRANDE VALLEY TABLE OUTREACH
Minnesota (July) & Jackson St., Harlingen, TX - (Aug. 7, 2010)
Curt and Janie Rolf

We were in Minnesota visiting our new granddaughter in July, thus we missed the July ‘Table’ set-up on Jackson St. We did, however, have the opportunity to do a presentation on the 4th as well as a table outreach in the fellowship hall at our home church in Quamba, MN. As always, it was fun to visit with church family there. As I took inventory later, I found there was indeed interest in some of our apologetic materials such as Evolution/Creation, Catholicism, Yoga, Mormonism and Life after Death.

August on Jackson St. was rather quiet, but in spite of the blistering day, there was some activity in front of the table with interest in yoga materials, the printout about magic, a couple of new ‘Narnia’ booklets, and the CD on Noah’s Ark. The activity behind our table was amazing, including quite a discussion with 11 year old Leo on the Trinity. He was intrigued with tying in the Old Testament with the New Testament…Gen. 1:1 and John 1:1:”In the beginning…” It was SO good to see him again!!! We pray that interest in Truth will continue!!!

Another highlight of the day was a return visit by little 10 year old Brittany. We were in the process of closing down the table outreach, so we didn’t get much of a chance to talk, but Janie was pleased to hear she was still with her mom in Houston, TX, and she wasn’t whisked off to Cuba. Janie did take the opportunity to pray with her, and Brittany said she was reading her Bible. Praise the Lord!

We again pray that God would touch the hearts and minds of those receiving the materials. It was interesting that this was the first time we saw interest in the magic printout. We also gave both Leo and Brittany the new booklet on the Aslan of Narnia. Even if they aren’t familiar with the Narnia series, the message of who Aslan is (God) is very clear.

There was interest in the music CDs, Catholicism, Where Is God When Things Go Wrong? and The Way of the Shepherd. It was a GREAT day (and we all survived the heat)!!!

Relying on Him as He directs our paths (Prov. 16:9),
