Touching Testimonial of God's Love in Evangelism

This is from my friend, Jennifer. We met when I was at my table at Venice Beach years ago. She lives in Las Vegas with her husband, and they are truly a couple I think of when I think of how sweet marriage is supposed to be, as they work together in ministry and love God together in their marriage. They are both such beautiful people in every way. With Jennifer's consent, I am posting some of her touching letter to me. It conveys how important love is when we tell people about Jesus and how we are to be "longsuffering" like Jesus is with us.

Hi Dwayna,

It is always wonderful to receive your updates and read how the Lord is using LTW to further the kingdom of God. We have sent a love offering, use it wherever the need is the greatest.

I pray for you often, Dwayna, and my heart is overwhelmed by peace when I mention your name to the Lord. I have had a song in my heart and mind for weeks now, and it has become my daily prayer as I go about the day.

I’m sure you will remember it. The words are:

Captivate my heart
Make it all Your own,
Melt away my every longing
'Til I’m Yours alone
Breathe upon me Lord
Make my spirit new
Let me know Your holy presence
As I worship You

Matthew Henry once said, “When we come together as a church group to sing to the Lord, it is praise, but when we come to the Lord alone to sing to Him it is worship.”

I understand what he means. My time alone with Him is most precious. I am my Beloved’s, and He is mine.

...We have had some amazing meetings with evolutionists and atheists at our church. At the end of one of the meetings, we approached a man named Michael, a self proclaimed atheist. He was extremely feminine in his demeanor. We were both drawn to him. Bob [my husband] and I are not well versed in atheism, but the Holy Spirit is, and He spoke through us.

Michael said to us, “I know your greatest desire in this life is to bring as many as you can into the kingdom of heaven.” Then he said, “Mine is to do just the opposite. I live to tell people your God does not exist; heaven does not exist, and this life is it.”

After 45 minutes of conversation this man began to soften. We did not debate him. We loved him and told him the Truth and what the Lord had done in our life and our sons' lives. He kept saying, “Why doesn’t the Lord speak to me or reveal Himself to me like that? I ask Him to prove to me He is real.”

I said to him, “Honey, your heart is not right. You are asking with wrong motives. Even if the Lord appeared to you, you would not believe Him. The Lord is looking for a heart that is broken and contrite over sin-- yours is not; it is filled with pride.”

He asked us to remember him in our prayers. I hugged this lost soul good-bye. Our son witnessed the whole conversation and said after we left another Christian got into a debate with him and ended up cursing at him. Michael walked out. Our hearts broke. We are going to look for Michael at UNLV this year. Perhaps his heart will be opened, perhaps not. We will allow the Holy Spirit to lead us once more.

I visited a man in the hospital last week, his name is Chris. He’s 53. He is a lifetime alcoholic and drug addict. He walked out in front of a truck at night. He shattered both legs and almost died from a brain injury. It has left him with blood on his brain, very confused and unable to walk up. I could not reason with him, so I scratched his back and rubbed his soar legs and told him this was not God’s plan for his life. As I left the Lord gave me a little glimpse of how he feels. He says, “Come now, let us reason together. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient…..” Isaiah 1:18-19

He reminded me how he tried to reason with me as a young woman. I was not willing to be obedient.

I understood how He feels.

Praise be to God, my heart softened, as He continued to pursue me, and I became willing to become obedient. And now those scarlet sins are as white as snow and remembered no more as far as the east is from the west, buried in the sea of forgetfulness.

How great is our God and how grateful I am.

I love you, Dwayna. Never tire of the Lord’s work. The end of all things is near. Soon we shall look upon His face and behold His beauty. May we be found worthy.

Awaiting His return with great expectation,

Jen
