Oxfordfest Table Outreach

(Caveat: LTW is praying God will let us start a new table outreach of apologetics with Sovereign Grace Baptist at Jacksonville State University in Alabama in 2011.)

OXFORDFEST TABLE OUTREACH (Alabama)

Update from Jon Cardwell

Our first outreach came together so very quickly and we (that is I, more than anyone) have a lot more to learn about the logistics of putting something like this together. It was a tremendous learning experience; and I think by the time we officially launch an LTW Outreach in Anniston/Oxford/Jacksonville in 2011, we’ll be a bit more prepared.

Thanks to Gordon Cardell, he found out about Oxfordfest, an annual event on Main Street in Oxford, Alabama. They had one space left available because it was the last day of registration. We also got it free because we are a church. We’re so grateful to the Lord for Brother Gordon because he stepped out in faith to say, we need to do this. The schedule for my week seems to fill up quickly beginning Sunday, so having those folks in our congregation that have a desire to serve the Lord in making Him known to the people in our county.

This year’s event began at 9 am on Saturday, October 2nd, and continued until 5 pm. Among those that came out to work the table besides Gordon, were Marianne Lock, Heidi Hicks, Lisa and Rachel Cardwell.

We used many of the gospel tracts written by John Hunter and myself, tracts and materials from Chapel Library, and gospel tracts donated to us from Compelled to Tell Ministries. We had an opportunity to speak with several people the Lord brought our way. We also had an opportunity to venture out and witness and share with others who were there to shop among the many venders selling their wares. Some forty families received audio CDs, 20 CDs with Gospel messages from Paul Washer and 20 of mine. We had handed out over a hundred flyers for Sovereign Grace Baptist Church and over two hundred gospel tracts, and that, not counting the booklets, pamphlets, and New Testaments taken freely from the table of those that stopped by.

We have much to learn, but we are willing to be used of the Lord and thankful for any and every opportunity. We are praying that the Lord will open the door for us to begin ministering at Jacksonville State University.

Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement.

Ever in Christ by God’s grace,

Jon Cardwell
