Yesterday at Venice Beach

God gave us a spot on the boardwalk, so the team could set up the table. Now that the lottery system is over, our team hopes to set up more regularly. They got there early and reserved a spot. Robin drove up from San Diego to work with Mike, Eileen and Dan.
Dan sent me the photos from his phone. They had a slow, windy day, but we know that God will give them busier days there now that we can get a spot for setting up! Perhaps the most unique conversation was with someone claiming to be a Christian who was offering "dream interpretation."

From Dan: "Here is a photo of the flyer handout given to us by a gal claming to be a Christian, offering dream interpretation! The speaker's name is Barbie Breathitt at "His Life Ministries." The gal handing out the flyer stated that she could teach you how to interpret your dreams in a biblical manner. Robin, a member of our team, finally told them that what they were doing was not based on God's truth, because we now have the Bible...and this practice of dream interpretation is subjective and occultic." The Bible says that demons can come to people in dreams--see Jude 1:6-8.
Dan writes: "We finished in the Rose St. parking lot lifting up in prayer the lost to our Lord Jesus Christ who is the Redeemer of our souls. How much more time will we have to tell others about Him before His return? At Venice Beach it becomes very apparent as to just how far our sociaty has regressed on every level, but the Lord is still at work to save."

LTW Update: Atlanta (Little Five Points)

As I write this summary of our time in evangelism last weekend, I am reminded that there is no joy on earth like the joy of telling someone about Jesus. No “preaching” required or strange actions like rolling on the floor in uncontrollable laughter or being “slain in the spirit” to fall back in some sort of altered state of consciousness. There is none of that required to know God and feel His pure, honest love.

I got down on my knees this morning and said, “Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I believe You are the way, the truth and the life, and that no man comes to the Father except through You. I pray You will take all of me, because I cannot stay in a place of surrender on my own. I need You, and I need You every hour. I know You know me, and I know You know me by name, and I know that before I was ever born You had a plan for me. Don’t let me miss out on anything that only comes through obedience and surrender—don’t let me miss out on a moment of the blessings You have when I obey and surrender. Help me to live an honest life, and I need You, and I thank You for setting me FREE from sin, and I pray You will keep me far, far away from it.”

Recently, I have heard about a pastor who is in very bad health. Many people love him, and I am one of those people. As it turns out, he has been an alcoholic for years, and he almost literally died from it this month. No one knew but God. I am sure that this man, who knows so much about the Bible to preach very meaningful sermons, KNEW he needed help. I am sure God let him know that he was not only hurting God and his family, but he was also hurting himself. I am sure that God loves him and knows him and came to convict him time and time again to get help, yet the man could not surrender. I realize I am no better apart from God’s grace to keep me in a place of surrender, even a place where I want to surrender. Well, time goes on, and he almost dies this month from liver damage. God loves him so much that He saw fit to get him to a place of surrender, even though it hurt God to do it publicly. Now everyone knows about this man’s addiction to alcohol, and he will never be a pastor again. How sad, and I could weep right now as I write about it thinking about how many years the man has been hurting AND GOD HAS BEEN HURTING, too.

My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and when I hurt myself, I hurt God. What a wonderful lesson I have learned from the testimony of this man’s life. I have learned that I will never outsmart God, and He can and will expose anything at any given time if I live a life of secrets. I have learned that a life of secrets can offer me nothing. I have learned that knowledge of the Bible is not the same as surrendering to live an honest life. I have learned that my God is not my “ministry” in Lighting the Way. I have learned that I have a gentle Savior who is longsuffering to convict me time and time again before such harsh discipline. I have learned to not judge someone based on how much the person knows the Bible, because knowledge is not the same as godliness and surrender. I have learned (once again!) that I should not assume someone is “great” without knowing the person, especially when it comes to someone in a leadership position, because very few people can handle attention honestly and in enough humility to live authentic lives. There is no such thing as a great person apart from honesty.

Most of all I have learned that IN MY WEAKNESS GOD IS STRONG AND NO TEMPTATION HAS OVERTAKEN ME. People don’t have to live lives of defeat if they know Jesus. I don’t have to succumb to failure in my Christian life, because of Jesus. I have been given victory in Him. Not only that, but HE promises to “provide a way of escape” for me from any temptation that comes my way! (1 Corinthians 10:13).

What a lesson I can also learn in not taking advantage of God’s grace. If I pray, “Lord, I know this is wrong, but I will just do it for a while and then be done with it,” God shows us through the example of this pastor addicted to alcohol that when we start something we can become addicted, to the point where we cannot stop. It is as if the Lord says, “Ok, you want this instead of Me? I will give it to you, and I will let you have it as long as I see fit, even longer than you want it! I will do this to show you that I am God, and I am YOUR God, and there is no other God but Me.” (Isaiah 43:10)

Well, I have tears in my eyes as I write about it today. I have tears of joy that there is such an intimate Lord in existence, and He cares very deeply about having ALL of my heart. He brings me peace. He puts me at ease. He lets me attest that “as for me, the nearness of God is my good,” even when people misunderstand me and when nominal friends come and go. He is truly my Good Shepherd. (John 10, Psalm 73).

So, I tell people about Jesus because of His great love for me. It is not about my love for Him that miserably fails time and time again. It is not about my strength, because I am undeniably weak. It is all about Him and how He fights my battles and wins them and how He sets me free from sin and keeps me there, and it is about a supernatural presence and indwelling that is one of total honesty, purity and peace with Love from a “suffering Servant” who paid for all my sins with His life. It is about a love for my soul to last for all of eternity.

We had a great day in evangelism last weekend in Little Five Points. God brought up Larry, who spoke with us for at least an hour. He took ‘Can You Be Good Without God?’ by John Blanchard. He is agnostic but could not explain the mystery of the conscience if there is no moral God when we asked him about it. He also took quotes from evolutionists about how they really have no proof for believing in evolution; they just don’t want to believe in the Bible! (The quotes were compiled from the book, ‘That Their Words May be Used Against Them,’ by Henry Morris.) God brought up two people who believed in universalism, which teaches that when Jesus died for the world (John 3:16), no one will go to hell as a result and the whole, entire world will be saved. I had a list of verses on hell, and I offered the list to someone believing in universalism. She said, “No, it is too long, and I will not read it.” I responded, “Ok, well, since you are here, and we have a Bible on the table, let me just pick up a Bible and read you a few verses to show that the Bible clearly teaches that people will go to hell without Jesus as Savior.” I turned to 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and Revelation 22:15. I also read her Acts 17:30-31 and Galatians 5:19-21.

I worked with Charisse Graves and John and Lee Rosser, and we were all very busy having conversations with people who were open to hearing about Jesus and having answers to life’s deepest questions based on the Bible.

But, my relationship with God does not end there. It is every single day, every moment of every day as my Husband, my Friend, my Comforter, and my Keeper and my Savior. “Blessed are those who HUNGER and thirst for righteousness for they shall be SATISFIED.” Matthew 5:6. It is true. He satisfies me, BUT that satisfaction only comes from my “death” to my desires for a LIFE much better in Him. It does not come by Him giving me an easy life or letting me have whatever I want. It comes from surrender, and that involves a lot of pain. It is not contingent on a 501 (c ) 3 or a new web site. No one sees but Him. I love Him so much for being such a humble God and for making me better, for making me more like Him as I “die daily” in the power and victory of His resurrection.

News

Read "How Many Versions of the Bible do we Need?" here.

Work today has included discussing our needs for the new LTW web site, which has been rather time consuming and tiring. (It is going to require a lot of work and creativity on my part.) Plus, I am working on updates for the current site.

I am also learning new things to do with photography, which I plan to use for ministry purposes.

Tomorrow, after church, I plan to do more work on http://www.bygodsgrace.org/ and add Bible verses and a summary to the photos from our mission work in Little Five Points last Saturday. We really had a great day in outreach, and it will be a joy to share about how God gave us opportunites to tell a lot of people what the Bible says about various issues, including universalism and whether or not God will send people to hell. It is always an honor to share with people the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ in love.

Today I booked my flight to Angola prison, where I will be heading for a long weekend in a few weeks. They have also scheduled for me to speak at the women's prison and show "God of Wonders" (a DVD by Jim Tetlow against evolution.) I pray that God will use my time there for His glory, to encourage the men and women to live for heaven and not this short life. As Christians, many of them are more free there in prison than people in the "free" world surrounded by temptations and enslaved by addictions.

Ordering more tracts for our outreach locations from the UK

I have found some excellent tracts, and they are "free." However, the shipping is a lot from the UK. I am trying to work it out where we can get these free tracts, which are very well done, and pay for the shipping.

1. Who Made the Big Bang Bang?
2. Bon Voyage
3. Evolution
4. Apocalypse
5. Justice for All
6. What Every Catholic Needs to Know
7. Which One Has the Truth?
8. Are You Prepared to Jump?

Update

I went to the doctor today about my vision, and it has been an "adjustment" for me to need glasses and/or contacts after having 20/20 vision all of my life until this last year! I can't read small print as easily, so I need contacts and/or glasses.

I have then been busy with creative projects all day, which have come as a surprise...The day has flown by.

Both pastors in Pakistan and Kenya are truly going the extra mile to get free evangelistic materials in Urdu and Kiswahili from World Missionary Press. The pastor in Kenya was going to use all of his money to take the bus to get the materials. I wrote them at World Missionary Press to let them know that LTW would pay for the shipping, because he did not have a car, and it would be way too much to carry, much less the fact that he said he was going to use practically all of his money for the bus ride. They wrote back to let us know that they are currently out of tracts and Gospel booklets in Kiswahili, but they have ordered more. The pastor in Pakistan is in the process of driving to get the free materials in Urdu for the table outreach. In addition to these free materials, I will try my best to convey needs to raise money for these outreach locations where even Christians cannot afford Bibles.

On a creative note, I have been offered a free class in photography, so I will be taking my first photography class soon. Eventually, I want to give my photos of nature and children to anyone who gives to Lighting the Way as a thank you gift. I want to make them unique, posting Bible verses about God's love and power along with my photos of nature.

I know I have said this before, but tomorrow I plan to post photos from the Atlanta outreach last weekend, along with an update.

We have also begun designing a new web site for Lighting the Way. This is actually not an option, because we have outgrown the current format, and we continue to expand with no space to expand on the web site.

I still have much work to do on http://www.bygodsgrace.org/ . All I can say is I have scheduled that for tomorrow and will get to it after I post the photos from the Atlanta outreach last weekend.

All packages have been sent to Rosa in Los Cabos, Mexico, and we are waiting to hear back from her, as she is gathering supplies for the new table outreach to begin in Cabo San Lucas. We spent over 100.00 in shipping alone this month to Mexico to get this new table outreach started. It will be worth it when we see it up and running in action!!

With a faithful Shepherd,

Dwayna

Progress Report

We had a fantastic day in outreach here in Atlanta last Saturday and I plan to post photos and write a summary about it today.

I am determined to work more on the ByGodsGrace.org site tonight and tomorrow.

We have made contact with World Missionary Press in Pakistan and Kenya for FREE materials in Urdu and Kiswahili, and the pastors leading our table outreach locations there are driving to get the free tracts and Bibles from World Missionary Press.

I plan to get in touch with the leaders of World Missionary Press in Mexico today, to give them the emails and names for our leaders in Mexico, so they can get free tracts.

I have materials mailed off to Angola, especially the DVDs "God of Wonders" and "Countdown to Eternity," which we plan to show to the prisoners while I am there. I am also scheduled to share my testimony and sing at the women's prison the weekend I am at Louisiana State Penitentiary to share my testimony and sing in the churches there and on death row.

I am also working on a new rendition of "By And By" and will be in the music studio recording it next week, along with "I Must Tell Jesus."

LTW Update: Boulder

Hi Dwayna,

Thank you VERY much for the CDs of "The Beautiful Side of Evil", plus the booklets (101 Last Days & 101 Scientific Facts), and the new DVDs on creation/evolution, last times and "The Good Test". They are just in time for this Saturday when we'll be in Boulder from 2 to 5 p.m. with Tracey and me, and hopefully several from my church. I'm planning on November 13 & 27, and December 11 & not sure of a second date but I want to do one. Maybe a Sunday. I'll send you a report after the weekend. Tracey is wanting to set up a table on the Boulder CU campus and is talking with Donna about how she got one started over 20 years ago on a Denver university campus, as a student organization. What a faithful witness!

Love in Jesus,

Patty

Creflo Dollar Wants to Shoot People Who Don't Tithe?

Creflo Dollar says he would like to line up non-tithing members and shoot them (at the count of three Jesus's name). He says if you tithe correctly, it's impossible to go to hell. He and Leroy Thompson do a greedy money dance over tithes and offerings. The congregation is really excited about it all.

LTW Update: UT Outreach of Apologetics

From Tom Duvall, leader of UT Outreach ministry table of evangelism and apologetics:

Hi Dwayna,

I just thought I'd let you know how today went. I forgot my camera but did get a picture with my phone, and if I can figure out how to send it to you, I will.

Today was a beautiful day on the UT campus! I set the table up on the pedestrian walk near the main library and had a great time enjoying the mild weather God provided. At first, things were quite slow, but I did get the opportunity to speak to a couple of street preachers who were walking around checking out all the other tables. There were more tables than usual out today, thanks to the great weather. On one side of me was a bunch of students selling brownies, and on the other side was a group promoting a play called "Sex Signals". According to the UT website, "SEX SIGNALS creates the kind of critical dialogue necessary to dissolve enduring rape myths and encourage thoughtful, accountable, intimate behavior. The program reaches out to students who have mislabeled coercion as consent, with the hope that once they realize the brutal impact of rape, that they will change their behavior."

Just as I was beginning to think today would be awash, I had a lady come up and very specifically ask me if I had material for a friend of hers that she said was saved but was still living a homosexual lifestyle. During our conversation she also mentioned a scientist friend who was lost she was trying to reach with the Gospel. I was able to provide her with a couple of books on both topics. It was obvious she was in a hurry, so I didn't get the chance to talk to her long, but I've wondered all day how she came to know I was even set up. I can only guess God pointed her in my direction. Not long after this encounter, I had a series of students all stop by asking about the ministry, and every one of them was interested in the topic of evolution. Some took books by John Blanchard, some by Ray Comfort, and one took a DVD on creation.

Bill Wilson, founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, and Spiritism

“The ouija board got moving in earnest. What followed was the fairly usual experience–it was a strange melange of Aristotle, St. Francis, diverse archangels with odd names, deceased friends–some in purgatory and others doing nicely, thank you! There were malign and mischievious ones of all descriptions, telling of vices quite beyond my ken, even as former alcoholics. Then, the seemingly virtuous entities would elbow them out with messages of comfort, information, advice, and just sheer nonsense.”– –AA co-founder Bill Wilson, from his official AA biography, PASS IT ON, pg. 278

Caveat: I realize that AA has helped many addicts, but it is false to say its founder was a Christian, because he was very much involved in occult spirituality. I would suggest Christians go there to get support leaving ADDICTION only; it is not the place to go to find the true and living God. However, God does want us sober, so I appreciate the importance of accountability in leaving addictions and the unconditional love offered to addicts from other addicts. It should be noted that some TRUE CHRISTIANS also attend AA meetings and speak about the TRUE JESUS as the highest Power of all, but that is exceptional and not the rule. My advice to an addict would be to go to AA meetings to stop drinking and learn to live a sober life; go to the Bible to find the only true, moral and kind God who heals. Though the people can get better from the AA meetings, they become addicted to the meetings without a RELATIONSHIP with the true and living God who is far more than just a "higher power" of a sinner's feeble understanding. Logically, such a power of "one's own understanding" is not a "higher" power than the person after all! It does not even make sense!

LTW Update: NYC

Shalom and Blessings in the Name of Yeshua, Our Beloved Messiah!!

Hi Dwayna, well.... after some much needed rest and regrouping, we three girls were back out on the streets of New York City as a team in what has been a few weeks. Thank God the weather was nice, considering that we are already at mid-October, although it was a little chilly and quite windy at times.

We decided to set up the table outside the post office across the street from Madison Square Garden at 38th Street and 8th Avenue. It was great being back out at our old location with our trusty and handy ministry table, covered in all kinds of materials addressing evangelism and the Gospel, Bibles, discernment, apologetics, end-times, prophecy, false belief systems and religions and cults, materials for Arabs and Jews and some in Spanish for the Latino community.

Strangely enough, we saw many people walking back and forth with name tags on which said "new birth", etc. At first, I was not sure to what this was referring, but eventually we found out when we were approached by someone who decided to stop and talk with us. He indicated that he was on his way to the New Age convention taking place at The New Yorker Hotel which was a few blocks uptown from us, but he had decided against it as he felt something (he would later admit that he believed it could be God, and I concurred) was keeping him from attending. I then added to this observation that by him stopping at our table, this was further confirmation that the Lord did not want him to attend this occultic event and that he could rest assured that he did the right thing.

I told him nothing is by coincidence, and all things are foreknown by God, as He is sovereign and everything happens for a reason. We then proceeded to have a very lengthy conversation with him, in which I tried to explain that one must worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, and you cannot bring false idols or false worship, also known as Avodah Zarah (in Hebrew) to Him, as He looks upon it in disgust.

I proceeded to explain from the Bible how God views the occult and the consequences of dabbling with spiritual entities and mysterious things: psychics, mystics, diviners, witchcraft, fortunetellers, soothsayers, etc. One cannot claim to love Jesus Christ and God the Father and, at the same time, dabble with or in the enemy's camp. We are told in the Scriptures that we are to test all things and to test the spirits to see if they be of God, and any spirit that is not the Holy Spirit is a counterfeit, antichrist spirit and, therefore, a minion and cohort of Satan.

While the man explained that he was raised in a Christian religious household and had received Catholic education, he was disenchanted with the Catholic Church, to which I also offered my concurrence, as a former Catholic realizing Catholicism preaches another Jesus with another spirit and another gospel, which is accursed. Salvation is obtained through the repentance of sins, turning from one's evil and self-fulling ways and walking toward God, through faith in the finished work of Jesus upon the Cross, dying in our place as the sacrificial Lamb, once and for all… for our sins and that it is by grace, a merit which we do not deserve, that God imputes Jesus' righteousness upon us, whereby we are adopted into God's family, made co-heirs of Christ and are now seated in the heavenly places spiritually with God. Upon supernatural conversion, God bestows upon us His gift as a Father, the Holy Spirit, the seal of promise. The Holy Spirit was sent into the world to convict the world of sin as a general mandate but in the life of each believer, He is a friend, a comforter, a teacher, and He leads us into all truth. He convicts the heart, and He is God's Power manifested on earth. The only way one can live the Christian life is by having the indwelling of the Spirit of God, the Ruach HaKodesh.

While the gentleman seemed very versed in the Bible and knowledge of topics therein, he definitely had itching ears when it comes to the apocrypha and philosophies of men and mystics. I implored him to turn and avoid those things, as they would lead to destruction and open him up to the spiritual realm with in which the Bible warns we have no business dabbling. He assured me that he knew this, yet he just seemed to be stubborn in wanting to continue on the same road by having a syncretistic faith. I explained there is a way that is right to God and a way that is right to man, and that way is the path to destruction. While he did not want to take any of the materials we had on the table, he was very open to hearing us and conversing with us and, hopefully, he took what we said regarding right worship to heart. Please keep him in prayer, that he would turn from his ways and turn completely and repentfully to God and that he would consider visiting our church to hear the Bible being preaching uncompromisingly. He was adverse to church, yet I explained that God warned us not to forsake the assembling together of the brethren and that we are not called to be lone rangers.

We had another young fellow come by the table who engaged actively with Suzi. He was very interested in apologetics and it was apparent to us that he was indeed very open to the truth and was searching for answers. We pray that he would come to full repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for his salvation, by the grace of God. Please keep him in prayers.

There is so much confusion in the world today as people look at the outer appearance but don’t look at the doctrine and substance of religions and cults. Since they are Biblically illiterate, they are being taken for a ride because certain religions may appear to have "modesty and goodness", but they deny God and His Power.

We had several other people visit the table and take various items.

It seems that every time we go out, while we have been immensely blessed and protected, yet there is always at least one "rabblerouser" who wants to yell at us or start a fight. Suzi got into a heated discussion with a woman who took offense at what Suzi said regarding Jesus being the only way to the Father. This woman was on her way to the New Age convention but didn't know exactly where it was, so first she stopped and asked Christine and then ended up with Suzi. It is so sad how many people are being groomed for accepting the coming one world religion prophesied in Revelation and the kingdom of the Antichrist, which is on the horizon. So many people are falling for the ecumenical and interfaith lie that all religions are the same and that we can eat the meat and spit out the bones when it comes to differences in beliefs and doctrines. Biblical Christianity, while exclusive, is inclusive when it comes to salvation being offered to all men, both Jew and Gentile. So many people are caught up in the cares and vain philosophies of this world, trying to make a god in their own image, a god which cannot save. I hope that we have many more opportunities to shine the Light on the darkness and use our salt in a savory way.

We are in need of more materials on the last days, prophecy, as well as Bibles in English, Spanish, Arabic and Hebrew. Also, it would be great if we could get more Way of the Master resources in Spanish and more materials concerning evolution and the new age, as well as any material on UFOs. The John Blanchard booklets are very handy. Also, the various booklets from Answers in Genesis are very helpful, one of which is a booklet concerning the veracity of UFOs. I don’t know if you are aware, but apparently, last week there were reported UFO sightings in Manhattan, and we believe that this will probably or could possibly be the great deception that is being planned and will be used to explain away The Rapture of the Ekklesia (the called out ones, those who are born-again of the Holy Spirit Christians/believers).

We stayed out until about 5 p.m., as now the days get darker earlier and the wind was picking up steam. After returning our items to the church office, we decided to get a bite to eat at the diner and to have a time of fellowship and prayer for all the souls who stopped by as well as for those who are not saved and other issues of need.

As always, we remain steadfast in preaching the whole counsel of God, in fighting the good fight of faith, and never, ever, giving in to apostasy. We pray for continued blessing and protection and for laborers and materials for the ministry, whether financial and/or products. As winter draws near, and the temperature dips below 68 degrees, we will start setting up at our alternate location, which is located in the subway corridor at 42nd Street between 8th avenue and 7th avenue (Times Square station) that we like to call the Christian hallway, on the 7th avenue side of the passageway near the 7 train. We can still be reached by e-mail at thegoodnewsfriends@yahoo.com , should anyone wish to contact us or need questions answered or for prayers.

Attached are two photos of us ministering at the table.

May the Lord Jesus come very soon!!! Maranatha!!

Shalom,

Heidi, on behalf of The Good News Friends

From Suzi:

Excellent update, Heidi!!

I wanted to add that a Mormon came by the table, asking if we had change for a dollar which then led to talking about the difference between Christianity and Mormonism and giving him some materials.

We also met a woman who came from a psychic reading at this conference. She had an uneasy feeling about it and spilled her coffee and felt like she had to get out of there. She found our table where we explained that she had opened herself up to what God forbids in scripture. We were able to pray with her and hopefully she will pursue the Lord and not the occult any longer.

Another woman stopped into the conference before heading off to church. She said it was like magic for grown-ups. Unfortunately, sorcery and all forms of the occult have been mainstreamed in our culture, but God clearly forbids any participation of it.

It felt like we were a spiritual clinic fighting a battle for souls just a few block away. So many are like sheep going astray, and searching for answers in all the wrong places. It's an awesome privilege to point souls away from what is evil and lead them to the only One God who is pure and true!

(By the way, the woman mentioned in Heidi's update who became so upset was looking for a meeting which she said was a gathering of 40,000 people from all religions coming together as one to create world peace. When I told her that true peace could only be found in Jesus Christ and that He alone is God and Savior, she went ballistic. It seems there is tolerance for everything today except taking God at His Word!)

Blessed to be serving Him,

Suzi

The Dalai Lama

Given the fact that the Dalai Lama is literally worshiped in America, please take time to review The Shadow of the Dalai Lama before writing off Buddhism as beautifully benign. The Dalai Lama is in no position to offer any true peace at all in reality.

Would you like to know more about the true agenda of the Dalai Lama and Buddhism? Want to learn how to reach Buddhists with the true, PURE love of Jesus? Want to know the difference between Buddhism and Christianity? Check out this site with teaching by James C. Stephens at Worldviews101.

Update on Virginia (Possible New Location of Outreach)

I spoke with the leader of an outreach to the poor in VA today, and, after discussing a partnership for almost a year now, we decided that it would be best to not partner.

LTW shipped her a box of Bibles for the outreach last spring which cost over 100.00, and she assures us that the box has been used, and that she has given away cases of Bibles this summer, but she has not had time to send photos or an update. She is a good friend to this ministry and a precious Christian, "fighting the good fight" of faith through service to God and others by sharing the Gospel. She understood, though, when I explained that we cannot partner without letting donors know how the resources are being used through ministry updates and photos. She even offered to pay LTW back for the case of Bibles we sent, but I told her that was not necessary. God bless her as she works with members of her church in outreach to the poor and needy in Virginia.

It is a reminder that this ministry, LTW, belongs to God. We can only expand where He leads, as He leads. At this time, we are no longer planning on expanding to Virginia through a partnership in a table outreach there.

Is The Bible Unique Among Holy Books? (by Mike Gendron)

Is The Bible Unique Among Holy Books?
by Mike Gendron
Are you prepared to give a persuasive answer to a skeptic who asks you that question?

Just 10 years ago, it was only the non-Christians who were asking if the Bible was truly unique, but now we've got many professing Christians within the Emergent Church Movement who are asking, "Why should anyone believe the Bible?" The reason is because they deny the authority of God's Word. They say that truth is subjective, it is relative, and anyone's truth is just as valid as another person's truth. How would you respond to these misguided comments? We are hearing them more and more as this movement is invading the Church of Jesus Christ.

The Bible is what God says, religion is what man says God says. I am really tired of people listening to what man says God says. We need to direct people back to the source for truth — the Word of God. So, when a person looks out on all the religious books that there are, we ask, "What religious book is the best authority for truth?"

The world is picking up many different religious books. I want to share with you what I believe are ten ways that the Bible stands alone, that the Bible is unique when it comes to all the religious books of the world.

1. Divine Origin

The first way that the Bible is unique is in its divine origin. The authors claim that their words were inspired by God. We see that in 2 Timothy 3:16, "All Scripture is God-breathed..." Keep in mind that it is the Word of God that is inspired, not the writers. And so, when you read the Bible, you are reading one voice. It is the voice of God. In fact, the authors even claimed that they spoke for God. The phrase, "thus says the Lord" occurs almost 500 times throughout Scripture. With these claims we would expect then that the Bible would meet or exceed the highest standards for accuracy.

2. Unique in Unity and Harmony

God commissioned 40 different authors from all walks of life, over a period of 1500 years on three continents to write the 66 books of the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, the writers are united in truth to reveal a complex drama about God's redemption of man from eternity past to eternity future. Think just how incredible this is! Here you have these 40 men separated by 1500 years all agreeing in unity and harmony on what the word of God is.

3. Popularity and Influence

The Bible is the most circulated book in history. It has been read and studied and quoted by more people than any other book. No other book has impacted society and culture so impressively or has changed lives so dramatically.

4. Reliability of Transmission

A shepherd made the greatest discovery of manuscripts in history in 1948 near the Dead Sea. Complete manuscripts such as Isaiah, the Psalms and Deuteronomy were copied over 2,000 years ago and found in these caves near the Dead Sea. These ancient manuscripts are essentially the same as our modern copies. This proves that they were transmitted over the years with extraordinary precision.

5. Indestructibility

The Bible has withstood intense scrutiny by thousands of skeptics and survived continuous attacks by emperors, kings and dictators. They all failed in their attempts to silence the message. God's Word will stand forever! We know that heaven and earth will pass away, but God's Word will stand forever.

6. Message of Salvation

Did you know that the Bible is also unique in its message of salvation? The Bible proclaims salvation is offered as a free gift of God's grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. All other religious books declare that man must merit salvation through works, religious rituals, and/or law keeping. No other religion offers the Savior. Christianity stands alone.

7. Historical and Geographical Accuracy

Archeologists continue to unearth evidence of ancient people, places and cultures that are all described in the Bible. The descriptions have always proven to be completely reliable and accurate.

8. Painfully Honest

The Bible is unique in that it is painfully honest in the accounts of its heroes. The Bible shows that Jacob, one of the fathers of God's chosen people, was a deceiver. It shows Moses, the Lawgiver, as a murderer. It shows David, Israel's most loved king and spiritual leader, as an adulterer. It shows Paul, who wrote over half the New Testament, as the worst of sinners. And, it shows Peter as a betrayer of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is another indication that the Bible is inspired. You look at any other books written by authors and all they do is boast in their accomplishments and they hide their shameful and sinful activities.

9. Scientific Accuracy

Scientific references about the physical universe recorded in the Bible thousands of years ago were not discovered until modern times using modern technology. The God who created the universe and set in motion the laws that govern our world is the same God who inspired the writers of the Bible to record these fascinating mysteries. The Christian faith is not a blind faith. It is based on verifiable evidence.

10. Bible Prophecy

The last and maybe the most compelling reason for the Bible being unique is its Bible prophecy. It is prophetic in the sense that over 30% of the Bible actually contains scriptures predicting future events. The Bible contains over 1,800 prophecies that foretell specific details about the Messiah, about Israel, about individual nations and certain cities. As prophecy is being fulfilled, it is clear evidence that the Bible was inspired by a sovereign God who controls all things.

The author of the Bible is indeed the God of Wonders who knows the end from the beginning, and we should pay close attention to what He has revealed in His truly unique Word.

Donation from the Post Office!

I have spent so much time at my local post office, they even made a donation to the ministry yesterday! That is rare!!

I have been shipping packages to our locations all over the world and have sure spent hundreds of dollars at the post office this week. Yesterday a postal worker asked, "Would you like some free brand new boxes and shipping materials?" I told him he had made my week. He said he was hoping to donate them to a non-profit. He gave me MANY really nice boxes and padded mailing envelopes, saving at least $100.00 in shipping supplies.

Not only have I been mailing out materials, but I have worked a lot in the storage unit and have been placing orders for more materials. I am still trying to get free tracts to our locations in Kenya and Pakistan in Kiswahili and Urdu.

SCHEDULE AND UPDATES:

Today, I plan to email three contacts in Mexico to get free tracts to our leaders in Guadalajara and Los Cabos.

I also have bookkeeping to finish from my trip to MX. My loft is finally looking like my home again instead of a shipping center. :-)

I am determined to finish the text for "Jesus vs. all the Others" today or tomorrow for www.bygodsgrace.org .

I will be working this Saturday with Charisse Graves, who is driving from Alabama to work with us in outreach at Little Five Points. It will be a fun weekend. She is one of my very best friends, so I am thrilled about her spending the night with me Saturday night, and we will have a lot of fun working in ministry together!

Sunday is a busy morning and afternoon at my church, www.fba.org , as I have a leadership meeting, and I hope to speak with the person who is interviewing me for a television show Sunday night by phone appointment.

It is looking like I am back in the music studio Monday or Tuesday of next week. I am speaking with someone about getting my music played on MAINSTREAM ADULT CONTEMPORARY stations here in Atlanta, as opposed to Christian stations. This is very exciting! If it gets good response, maybe other Adult Contemporary stations will play the songs in other cities. I am considering doing a "single" CD of only "Place Of Surrender" and "Honest Life" for radio stations in the Adult Contemporary genre.

Soon to come: ministry update from NYC...

Quote from 1921 on Liberalism Within the Church

The present time is not for ease or pleasure, but for earnest and prayerful work. A terrible crisis unquestionably has arisen in the Church. In the ministry of evangelical churches are to be found hosts of those who reject the gospel of Christ. By the equivocal use of traditional phrases, by the representation of differences of opinion as though they were only differences about the interpretation of the Bible, entrance into the Church was secured for those who are hostile to the very foundations of the faith!

And now there are some indications that the fiction of conformity to the past is to be thrown off, and the real meaning of what has been taking place is to be allowed to appear. The Church, it is now apparently supposed, has almost been educated up to the point where the shackles of the Bible can openly be cast away and the doctrine of the Cross of Christ can be relegated to the limbo of discarded subtleties.”

"There are congregations that are really gathered around the table of the crucified Lord; there are pastors that are pastors indeed. But such congregations in many cities, are difficult to find. Weary with the conflicts of the world, one goes into the church to seek refreshment for the soul. And what does one find? Too often, one finds only the turmoil of the world. The preacher comes forward, not with the authority of God’s Word permeating his message, not with human wisdom pushed far into the background by the glory of the Cross, but with human opinions about the social problems of the hour or easy solutions of the vast problem of sin. Such is the sermon and this the warfare of the world has entered even into the house of God. And sad indeed is the heart of the man who has come seeking peace.”

(These words were written 90 years ago – in 1921! By J. Gresham Machen, the founder of Westminster Theological Seminary; Christianity and Liberalism.)

"LTW Update: Kenya" October Table Outreach in Nairobi Kenya

(From: Pastor Masero Emmanuel Maroa)

I am glad to tell you that our table outreach is doing well. We continue to reach hundreds of people with the good news of the gospel. I am greatly blessed to see the precious new converts join our church, I tell you this table outreach is what the churches need to win lost souls out there. I want you to know that we rejoice with you for the tremendous harvest through the table outreach that you have in other nations and in your country. We continually pray for you, that you may experience the full measure of the Lord’s Goodness and great Blessing. You are always a blessing to us, and we are so thankful for God connecting us together in Him. The Scriptures encourage that God is not unjust to forget the work of faith and labour of love which His people have shown towards His Name in ministering to the saints [Hebrews 6.10]. The Lord is mindful of your dedication and your work for His Kingdom, and He will fulfill His Word of Promise to fully equip you for all that He has set before you to do for Him.

My sister, I and the church are praying that you will be able to get funds for the Bibles to send us, we also need a computer or a laptop so that it will be helping me to make materials for table evangelism, I will also be able to make messages for the table evangelism. And even use it for playing some messages you will be sending me for everyone in the church to listen to. I want to once again tell you that Kibera slum is a poor, informal settlement on the outskirts of Nairobi city, Kenya. They have a population of over 500,000 people who are ministered to by very few Christian church and Muslim are almost taking over Nairobi because they are buying and building mosque in almost every area, We are the one church with a table outreach in this slum. In general, Bibles and other Christian books are hard to come by in this poor settlement. Due to poverty and lack of availability, owning a Bible is a luxury. Kibera slum and several other areas in Nairobi Kenya has a tremendous need for further table outreach and free Bibles. We need ministers like you and your generous partners who will be committed to helping us to minister.

Please give our love and greeting to you and entire ministry and staff and partners. We love you all so much, appreciate you, and thank God for you. Blessings to you in His mighty and wonderful Name. Here is a picture we took today for table outreach, I was able to get a friend with a digital camera whom took us the picture, we always have table outreach on Saturdays but I have run out of evangelism materials, I will be producing more from the articles you sent me in the email as God provide financial resources, through the part time casual jobs I do here to provide to my family and support the church.

May God's Goodness pursue you continually in Jesus name!

I am your brother in Christ,

Pastor Masero Emmanuel Maroa

Pastor Emmanuel (sitting right) and Esther his wife ( left) together with other Table outreach members in Kibera slum on 16th October, today 3 people received Jesus as their personal savior. Praise the Lord!

Needs for NYC Outreach

I just wanted to communicate these needs for the NYC outreach table. I spent some time yesterday gathering materials in the storage unit for NYC after receiving this email from Christine, the outreach leader. I will need to order more materials as soon as possible to supply these needs. Thanks for the financial contributions and prayers for LTW as we keep these ministry locations stocked with strong resources to lead people to Jesus and debunk lies about the Bible and God.

From Christine:

We set up the table yesterday outside of the P.O. It was really a blessed day and even more so, since we learned from some people who stopped by the table that there was a New Age/ psychic, etc. convention going on down the street at the New Yorker Hotel. Apparently they were offering free materials and free readings, channeling, etc. Can you believe that?

Some of these people stopped by our table then, located about 2 blocks away, and we were able to give away some of the Walter Martin CD's, Bibles and Warren Smith's, The Light that was Dark. However, we now need replenishing of that book as well as Ray Yungen's, A Time of Departing and Bob DeWaay's, Reinventing Christianity. Any other books available would be helpful, too.

We have also run out of John Blanchard's, Evolution.

I think we're good on everything else! We spent some time yesterday organizing and taking inventory of what he have before we set up. I think Heidi is going to do a write-up of our time at the table ministry. God is so good!

LTW Update: Little Five Points (Atlanta) This Sat.

I am tentatively planning on setting up the outreach this Saturday here in Atlanta from 1 to 4, excited about the possibility of working with my friend, Charisse, who may be driving from Alabama to work with us in outreach! It has not yet been confirmed, but I am planning on it.

Today, I am hoping to finalize orders for Pakistan and Mexico and am shipping more boxes off of resources for various outreach locations.

Still catching up on emails, but I hope to begin writing the text again for www.bygodsgrace.org tomorrow.

Beautiful Hymn Lyrics (new to me)

These beautiful lyrics were sent to me today. This is one hymn I have never sung, and I don't think I have ever heard of it before.

How strange is Heavenly Love!
I never saw his face,
I never trod his courts above,
I have but known his grace,
Yet my affections cling
To his beloved side,
I feel He is my God, my King,
And I his ransomed bride.

How strong is Heavenly Love!
Stronger than ought below,
Though wide and wild my passions rove,
I will not let Him go;
What though I see Him not,
I feel the ardor burn,
He hath for me the victory wrought,
I love Him in return.

How sweet is Heavenly Love!
'Tis all in all to me,
I muse on Him in field and grove,
Or sailing o'er the sea.
I walk with Jesus here
Not lonely though alone,
Till in his presence I appear,
And know as I am known.

ANON.
(From Horatius Bonar's Lyra Consolations: or, Hymns for the Day of Sorrow & Weariness)

Work Update: busy as can be in missions

I just got off the phone with Robin, a dear Christian woman who is going to lead our new table outreach in San Diego. I told her I will plan on focusing on getting her supplies and resources shipped to her in November. This month, I am focusing on Kenya and Los Cabos, MX, plus I am ordering materials in Urdu for Pakistan.

I have truly not stopped since I have been home. I came home from Mexico to a shipment of in-depth evangelistic materials and videos from http://www.eternal-productions.org/ . I have been sending out materials to Israel, England, Rio Grande Valley, NYC, Venice Beach, Boulder, CO, Los Cabos, MX and playing phone tag with http://www.wmpress.org/index.shtml
for materials in Kiswahili for Nairobi and Urdu for Pakistan and Spanish for Guadalajara and Los Cabos.

I have spent much time today at work in our storage unit, and I am going to need to place an order for more materials this week from http://www.pro-gospel.org/ , http://www.bereanbeacon.org/ , http://www.lighthousetrails.com/ and Mt. Zion. The shipping supplies and costs will be around 300.00 alone, as I have to ship to practically all of our outreach locations. We have also ordered a sign for the new table in Los Cabos, Mexico reading "A Free Gift for You" in Spanish. We will get that sign back on Thursday and will send it, along with books in Spanish to debunk the Marian apparitions from a biblical standpoint. I will be sending materials in Spanish for people struggling with homosexuality in Los Cabos and, of course, many materials for Catholics. I have also included DVDs in Spanish from http://www.eternal-productions.org/ . I found some sermons in Spanish on CD in the storage unit, so we will make copies and get them in the mail as well.

It has been busy. I hope to resume writing the text for http://www.bygodsgrace.org/ when I get all of the materials shipped to Los Cabos and finish sending articles via email and placing orders for our new table outreach in the slums of Kenya.

To God be the glory,

Dwayna

Rio Grande Valley Update

TABLE MINISTRY #25 – RIO GRANDE VALLEY

Jackson St., Harlingen, TX - (October, 2010)

Curt and Janie Rolf

Even though temps were in the mid to high 80’s, we could see the number of browsers increasing and even a few winter-Texans setting up booths.

Quite a few materials left the table today including many materials for kids. This also included a couple of "Kids’ Bibles." It’s wonderful to see grandparents concerned about the spiritual well being of their grandkids.

A couple of people (including a Pastor) were looking for inexpensive Bibles and again we pointed them to the American Bible Society, which carries the Reina Valera version of Spanish Bibles.

I think the person that impressed us the most today was a special woman who shared with us her frustration of counseling in a public school; seeing kids considering suicide, leaning toward homosexuality and products of abusive home situations. To top that off her co-worker is a Jehovah Witness. Often her hands are tied as to what she can say to these kids. We gave her many materials and even some on Yoga…. SHE SEEMED VERY AWARE OF Hatha Yoga and was surprised to learn it’s a Far East, satanic practice. Her daughter was with her, and we praised God that she was attending a Christian school. We can’t help but believe many of the materials she received were an encouragement to her.

That conversation, once again, brought up the idea of putting out a few tracts or perhaps booklets about what the Bible has to say about homosexuality. We’ll have to pray about that.

Leo (our 12 y/o friend) stopped and chatted for awhile and our mentally challenged friends were excited to see us (and we also were pleased to see them). We always give them coloring pages and crayons. I gave their care-giver a copy of “The Good Shepherd”….she liked that.

Many of the kids liked the bright seasonal tract entitled LIGHT-UP-THE-NIGHT. With lots of jack-o-lanterns, and lights in windows, the message was quite clear about where light came from and who that Light is. And, of course, “Hey Kids” attracts kids of all ages!!

The table banner “Keys for Kids” seems to attract ’Christian’ teachers. Again, a teacher was pleased to take our last copy of Dwayna’s "31 Quotes".

A couple of “Brave New Schools”, by Berit Kjos left the table, but I suspect this is for confirming what’s already happening in our schools today.

We asked a few of our “church kids” to review a few of the Table materials for kids. Thanks Ava!!!…she ‘just loved’ the new booklet “The Greatest Story Ever Told”, dealing with the creation of man, their sin and Jesus’ life, crucifixion and resurrection – it’s quite a unique compilation of the Bible for kids.

Quite a bunch of the coloring pages with crayons left also. This month we included pages on ‘creation’, ‘the flood’, ‘Noah’s Ark’, dinosaurs, and the rainbow. They were pretty thick packets, but we’re praying many will read through them as they get into homes. ‘Answers in Genesis’ does an excellent job on all of these subjects. It was a good day!!! J

Relying on Him as “He Directs Our Paths” (Prov. 16:9),

West Hollywood Update

Friday Night in West Hollywood From Dan

Hi Dwayna,

I'm getting set up, and we will be offering "101 Scientific Facts & Foreknowledge" and "101 Last Days Prophecies" to prove to people the veracity of the Bible. I pray God's mercy for the lost tonight; it's getting late in the season, and we can take that in a spiritual context as well. www.eternal-productions.org

Mike and Eileen just arrived. Eileen had surgery on her left arm, so unfortunately cannot take pictures very easily tonight. (These photos were taken from my cell phone, and I apologize for the poor quality. At least, they will give people an idea of what we had on the outreach table in resources.)

2nd note from Dan:

Hi Dwayna,

I had a great conversation with a man named Richard who asked of we were pro gay. I told him we were, in the regard that we didn't want to see anybody go to hell and that the gay agenda lies to individuals telling them that homosexually is a healthy lifestyle, but that the average life expectancy (according to the Center for Disease Control) for a gay man is less than 40 years of age. I did explain that, according to the Bible, it is sin to have ANY kind of sex outside of marriage, because the God of the Bible is pure, and He is a God of love and not lust. I told him God has the ability to deliver anyone out of the homosexual lifestyle and that we had many testimonies of people who had left that lifestyle as a result of a relationship with Jesus.

He stated he was 65, and he was still alive. I went on to talk about psychological problems associated with the lifestyle...In the meantime, he had picked up a copy of Mary's booklet "An Honest Look at What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuallity", which I had just gotten from Eileen a few minutes before. At that point, Mike joined in on the conversation, and we discussed Islam and such. Then he asked about a church, and Mike told him of a Bible teaching church in Pasadena. He seemed genuinly pleased, thanked us, and along he went with the booklet by Mary, a former lesbian, explaining that God is pure and can heal sin.

For reference, I put Mary's "No Condemnation", pamphlet inside of the booklet, to explain the ground is level at the foot of the Cross.

We had a Christian named Marty come join us in work tonight. This was wonderful, since we have been discussing our work with him for almost a year, and he said he was praying about joining us in missions in West Hollywood.

The weather started misting rain, so we had to start breaking down at about 11:30. But, even as we were breaking down, we had several people come almost running up to the table! They wanted testimonies from our table and tracts and devotions and evangelistic materials! We were all engaged in conversation.

Unfortunately, I was engaged with a man who had Indian tatoos all over him and war paint under his eyes, and when I mentioned the deceptive nature of the enemy, he became a little upset and started using vulgarity. I told him the Bible was God's Word, so we can know the heart of God if we read it. He stated he did not need a Bible to talk with God and used more vulgarity and left. I realize that God used my conversation with that man for His glory, though the man did not seem to appreciate the Truth. I pray that God won't let him forget our brief conversation. While I was conversing with him, the other people there were snatching up materials and all seemed pleased as they spoke with our team.

We were thinking of trying to make it back for Halloween, but seeing some of the costumes already on display, we think probably not. Perhaps, we will work at Venice on that day instead.

God Bless,

Dan

We have also added Caryl Matrisciana's "Out of India" book for New Agers to our table outreach in West Hollywood. (We will also offer it at Venice Beach.)
