Our December day
started out with a few kids interested in our Christmas coloring pages...
A mom and
daughter took Bibles - the mom, a Spanish Bible; the daughter, an English
version. A lady checked out the
materials and took the "Evolution or Creation" booklet from Chapel
Library. We're always glad to see that
kind of interest [since] evolution is heavily promoted in schools in Mexico, as
well as the U.S. Another lady with her young son, also took "Evolution or Creation" plus "101
Scientific Facts." A young lady
[who looked to be about thirteen years old] and mom were ecstatic to receive a New King James Version Bible. A family of
Jehovah's Witnesses approached the table, and both of us silently prayed. The young son (14?) surprisingly took
"Facts About Jehovah's Witnesses" (IRR). We both know the futility in discussing the
deity of Jesus Christ, unless the Holy Spirit is at work to
convict. Our prayer is that indeed the
Holy Spirit will open their eyes, ears and hearts to God's truths
in Scripture, as we did share with them why Jesus is God. It would not be amiss to
say that the conversation was more than a little unnerving. We're grateful for Dwayna's encouragement on
this subject, and it also provided occasion to learn more about the JW doctrine
and witnessing to them.
Our Spanish speaking
friend made a special trip to our table last month to introduce us to his
daughters. This time he brought his
whole family. What a joy!!! Janie encouraged the oldest daughter to stop
by next month and help her practice her Spanish. All of the members of that family are
bilingual except the dad. It's VERY
encouraging to us that, even though he doesn't speak a whole lot of English, he
always stops by to say, "Hello," and, "God bless."
We always enjoy giving him any new Spanish materials.
A dear lady from
our church stopped by to see "what we were up to." As she perused the materials, she was pleased
to take some info on Yoga to confirm her thinking on the subject. Another lady was
thrilled to find a red letter King James version Bible, as was a Spanish speaking fellow who was delighted to
receive a Spanish Bible.
An interesting
lady approached the table outreach and checked through all of the books. She liked the large-print New Testament but
didn't take one. Instead, she took
The Light That Was Dark and Questions to Ask Your Mormon
Friends...
It was a good,
challenging day!!!
